Those efforts mean that he tops the shortlist for a race full of out-of-form horses. Tara Well has improved with every start this season and could prove to be the main threat, ahead of Western Sunrise.

CHEF DES OBEAUX only found a stablemate too good at Newbury earlier in the month and he can be taken to go one better this afternoon. The clear main danger is Bob Mahler, who already has an official rating of 122 and he ran well at Ascot when last seen on a racecourse. The rest do not inspire much confidence at all but The New Pharaoh was useful enough on the Flat to make him of some interest.
This is a good opportunity for CHEF DES OBEAUX to get off the mark over hurdles at the second attempt. His Newbury second looks strong form and he can take this before going onto better things. Bob Mahler is likely to prove the main threat.

HADFIELD has filled third place in both of his starts this season off his current mark, and it can be easily argued that those contests were a lot stronger than this event. Maguire's Glen faced a very stiff task at Cheltenham on his penultimate start but outran odds of 22/1 to make the frame at Towcester last time. Others to consider are King Uther, Malapie and One Forty Seven.
KING UTHER's handicap debut/reappearance last month wasn't devoid of promise, and he appeals as the type to really benefit from the application of a visor, so he could be the answer in what is a trappy contest. One Forty Seven is clearly thought to be ahead of his mark by connections so is feared, along with the slightly-frustrating Hadfield.

GLENFORDE is entitled to come on for his Chepstow fourth last time - his chase debut and first start since March - and remains open to improvement over the larger obstacles. Freddies Portrait had a recent outing over hurdles and is expected to step up on that effort now moving back over fences. He's 6lb higher than when scoring at Carlisle in February but represents a thriving stable. Huntingdon third Pembroke House could pick up some minor money.
GLENFORDE went like the second-best horse at the weights before tying up in the straight when fourth on chase debut at Chepstow last month. Allthegear No Idea has been an admirable servant to connections over the years and can't be dismissed, while Jennie Candlish often has success here at her local track and Grove Silver has to be considered. Morney Wing is interesting only 2lb lower than when a brave third at Haydock last time, however, preference is for David Dennis' CRANK EM UP, who should be capable of much more over fences and could be well treated off a mark 6lb lower than his hurdles figure. The veteran Hansupfordetroit has dropped to a career-low chase mark and can't be completely ruled out having gone well at this venue in the past.
Hard to be totally confident about any of these. GROVE SILVER has dipped below his last winning mark and might be worth siding with in the hope that a return to a venue where he's enjoyed success in the past sparks him back to life. Crank Em Up will be a threat if he can reproduce his latest Wetherby third, while Morney Wing can also figure if blinkers continue to have a positive effect.
