However, PAMPELONNE keeps threatening to win one of these and latest efforts behind Monarch's Way and Dreambrook Lady read nicely in the context of this race. She looks on a workable mark and can get her head in front. Wily Fox is progressing steadily over timber and completes the shortlist in a tricky affair.
Luggers Hall shaped well under luckless circumstances at Newbury a fortnight ago and can open his account off the same mark here. Competition is fierce, with Thursday's narrow loser Trip The Light and Pampelonne just 2 of the dangers.

Charlie Longsdon's yard had an understandable dip in form not too long ago but the string looks back in business now and CROSS OF HONOUR is acceptably treated on his first venture into handicap company after an eased-down success at Musselburgh last time. There seems plenty more to come and he can continue his upward curve at the main expense of Volador and Gores Island. The latter is especially interesting off his current mark and rates the leading threat.
A competitive affair featuring a number of handicap debutants, as well as some back hurdling after aborted chasing campaigns. Cross of Honour is feared amongst the former group, though Volador has plenty of solid form in these events to his name and is taken to go one better than at Wincanton last month. Native Gallery is also a danger on his hat-trick attempt.

Tamarinbleu keeps the weights down nicely for stablemate Master Overseer but he pulled up in the Welsh National when last seen in December and preference is for the Noel Meade-trained ANOTHER PALM. Also off since December, he was sent off favourite for the Becher Chase at Aintree, only to struggle on the heavy ground, but he landed a nice novice prize on good going at Fairyhouse last April and conditions should be fine for him here. Clash Duff is the unexposed improver in the field but an 11lb hike in the ratings for his recent Devon National win at Exeter could prove on the harsh side.
Clash Duff looked a stayer very much on the up when putting his rivals to the sword at Exeter recently and gets a narrow vote over Posh Bird, who is also similarly unexposed in races of this nature. Mr Moss looks a likely type to benefit from the extra stamina demands of this contest and also makes the shortlist, alongside Major Malarkey.

Sarah Humphrey continues to impress in the training ranks and CARPINCHO has progressed really well over fences this season in the novice division and wasn't disgraced in a mid-division finish behind Bless The Wings at Newbury last time. He's been dropped 2lb for that run and this looks a more straightforward assignment. Glens Boy is a potent danger, his January success over Ikorodu Road now taking on an even brighter lustre after the latter's success in the Grimthorpe Chase. Mister Hyde looks next best.
The form of Bruslini's chasing debut success is hard to weigh up, and a much more solid option is Glens Boy, who has been progressive so far over fences and beat subsequent Grimpthorpe winner Ikorodu Road when scoring at Newbury last time. Mister Hyde is also feared.

OSCAR FLYER is a speculative recommendation. He's only had the three runs over timber but is making gradual if unspectacular progress and first time in a handicap may be the time to catch him. Market support would obviously enhance his appeal. Matrow's Lady is a clear danger on account of a reliable and consistent profile, whilst Layla's Boy looks to be running into form and is worth a mention along with Gross Prophet.
Oscar Flyer and Hit The Switch are potential improvers, but they certainly need to in order to match those who've already proven it in handicaps. Matrow's Lady and Layla's Boy fit that bill, but it could pay to forgive Getaway Driver his latest blip (breathing problem) given the strength of his earlier form.

Pensnett Bay has displayed tremendous resolution to land the spoils at this track and Towcester the last twice but he's up a total of 15lb for those successes and this may prove a bridge too far although another good run is expected. Preference is for BENNYNTHEJETS, who ran into a much-improved performer in Chapel House at Leicester last time, a performance that heralded a return to form for the Bealby inmate. Dot Or Feather and Baltic Pathfinder also merit respect.
There should be plenty of pace on here and it could be set up for Dot Or Feather, who has the best profile anyway. Bring On The Judge has the ability to play a part if his jumping holds up, but arguably a more interesting one is point winner Ahwaak now he goes handicap chasing.

Some interesting sorts on show and MAKARI may well go off at a better price than the best of his form warrants. He was slightly below par last time when beaten at Musselburgh but still ran well enough. Back on ground with some give, he's expected to go close. Midnight Oscar and Walkabout Creek are obvious form dangers, with Ballincurrig an interesting recruit from the pointing arena for the Longsdon team. Regal Presence, Willoughby Hedge and Patsie Magern are interesting newcomers.
Makari sets the standard, but once again stretched the patience of favourite backers at Musselburgh last month, so he may be worth taking on again with Willoughby Hedge, who is ideally bred for races of this nature and hails from a yard with an outstanding record in bumpers. Midnight Oscar and Ballincurrig are others worth considering.
