The Happy Prince returned to winning ways in the Renaissance Stakes at the Curragh from Flight Risk last weekend, but, over this longer trip and now under a penalty, it might be worth taking him on with Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine JET SETTING, who hasn't been disgraced in the Coronation Stakes and Matron Stakes the last twice. While she, too, carries a penalty for her Classic success, she's the class act in the race now lowering her sights. Sruthan and Creggs Pipes have place claims if conditions prove testing.

Seanie deserves respect after winning this contest in 2014 and 2015 but his form this season doesn't look good enough to claim the hat-trick. It is rare to see Des Donovan runners across the Irish Sea and SEVERUS looks an interesting prospect with Wayne Lordan booked to do the steering. The six-year-old was an unlucky loser at Galway in July and deserves another chance to land a decent prize. Best Not Argue won with a degree of confidence at Gowran Park last time out and she looks sure to be suited by the soft ground that is likely to be on offer, while Tribal Path is also considered.

Ivan Grozny has started to fulfill his potential over the last few months, claiming victory both on the Flat and over hurdles. He looks sure to be a warm order in the betting for his powerful connections, but the six-year-old has effectively been on the go since January and the reappearing HARGAM could have too much for him. Nicky Henderson's charge endured a slightly disappointing campaign last season but should be suited by these conditions and can do much better over the coming months. Thomas Hobson has won over this distance before but probably needs further to be seen at his best, while The Game Changer is also considered back over hurdles.

After refusing to start two starts ago, CRADLE MOUNTAIN was much better behaved at Listowel last time and ran a blinder in chasing home the progressive Swamp Fox. He has only been nudged up 1lb and looks sure to mount a bold bid if behaving himself again. Veteran performer Ballyadam Brook tends to stick to the smaller obstacles nowadays and ran well in this sphere at Listowel last month. He can figure prominently again while Derulo, Black Benny and Oighear Dubh make up the shortlist.

ALPHA DES OBEAUX was much the best of these of hurdles and has always given the impression that he would have no problem jumping a fence. Bryan Cooper unsurprisingly chooses him over other Gigginstown runners Tocororo and Tiger Roll and if running up to anything like the kind of form shown when runner-up in the World Hurdle at last season's Cheltenham Festival, he should prove a cut above these rivals. Sandymount Duke could be closest on hand to take advantage if the favourite slips up.

MOUNTAIN ROCK hasn't put a foot wrong in two bumper starts thus far and gamely got the better of a Dermot Weld hot-pot at the Galway Festival last time. There is likely to be a lot more to come from Adrian Keatley's gelding and it will take a good one to stop him completing the hat-trick. Dos Picas has been there or thereabouts in each of his three starts and looks sure to be in the shake-up again, while Dr Mikey and Sillogue Pio add further spice to the race.
