PADGE chased home the well-regarded Shantou Bob in a maiden hurdle at Ffos Las in October and is given an opportunity to bounce back from a lacklustre display when dropped back to 2m1f at Cheltenham last month. Evan Williams' charge was sent off 6-4 favourite at Prestbury Park and is seemingly thought to be capable of better. Penalised pair Assam Black and Quinlandio have place claims, while Mount Haven is also worth a market check.

David Pipe's six-year-old had previously turned in a creditable effort on debut at Ffos Las and would go close if returning to a similar level of form in a first-time hood. Capilla has shown ability in bumpers, though hasn't yet transferred it over timber, while Abundantly is worth monitoring in the betting on her return from a long absence.

He can regain the winning thread on his handicap debut at the expense of Oscar Sunset, who found very little off the bridle at Ffos Las having travelled like the winner. The assessor has reacted to his Haydock success with a 5lb rise but there is a strong likelihood that there is plenty more improvement to come. Fayette County has yet to complete in two starts over fences but would pose a considerable threat if putting in a clear round. New Year's Eve has something to prove at present but merits consideration nonetheless.
