Double Expresso was pulled up on his first start for Paul Nicholls at Newcastle in November last year but now eased in both trip and class, he must be considered a player. Slight preference, however, is for ADVISOR, who bounced back to his best when dropped into a seller last time at Hereford and, if back to the form that saw him edge out the subsequent Swinton Handicap Hurdle-winner Eradicate in a Kempton bumper, he must be considered a threat along with Blacktoft.
Double Expresso needs to leave behind a disappointing debut for Paul Nicholls, but the switch back to hurdling could help and he could be worth the benefit of the doubt given his proven ability. Hereford winner Advisor will probably be the one to take advantage if the selection's troubles aren't behind him.

Alan King isn't short of class this term in regards to novice hurdlers and it would be no surprise to see NIGHT ROSE get off the mark over timber at the third time of asking. She bumped into the useful mare, Golden Gael, when last sighted at Huntingdon but is expected to thrive now stepped back in trip. Native Breeze is most certainly one to keep an eye on for the Philip Hobbs, while Milly Malone isn't without a shout.
Night Rose has made a fairly promising start over hurdles and can open her account at the expense of Milly Malone and Native Breeze.

Rangitoto is on a four-timer for Paul Nicholls and is expected to be all the rage in the betting ring but on his handicap debut over the larger obstacles, he might be best watched and, for that reason, MASTER FIDDLE gets the nod. The unexposed Nicky Henderson charge was well fancied at Newbury in November last year when he unseated Barry Geraghty, but he looks well handicapped on what he has shown over timber and is worth another look. Time For Spring completes the shortlist.

Having suffered broken ribs at this track recently, A P McCoy will be forced to watch on as Barry Geraghty does the steering aboard the unbeaten DARLAN and, with more to come from the son of Milan, he is expected to have the beating of these. The 136-rated Jump City must carry the same penalty for scoring at Exeter in November last year but must be shortlisted along with Giordano Bruno, who returns from a lengthy absence today.
Darlan is sure to make a bold bid to preserve his unbeaten record, but in Jump City he faces his toughest opponent to date and the Paul Nicholls runner is fancied to get the better of him with the drop back to 2m in his favour. Despite his lengthy absence, Giordano Bruno is a fascinating recruit to hurdles.

CARRICKMINES was an impressive C&D winner two starts ago and, having scored in a handicap chase off a mark of 119 last year, he is expected to have another big run up his sleeve off 111 here. He wasn't disgraced in a big field at Ascot latest, finishing third, when the front two pulled some way clear of the rest and at the forecast prices, he represents good value. Tigre D'Aron and Dantari are also noteworthy in the build up.
Carrickmines remains well handicapped over hurdles, and is taken to quickly regain the winning thread. Tigre D'aron hasn't been with Paul Nicholls long so he has to rate a danger, with Mac Federal interesting if the market vibes are positive.

She last scored at Plumpton three starts ago over 2m and, while underfoot conditions are an unknown quantity, she is expected to make the frame. Of the others, Kala Patthar shaped with promise in novice company on Boxing Day and is one for the shortlist along with the unexposed Glassawine.
