John Gosden is a rare visitor to this venue but he has a 37 per cent strike rate with the runners he's sent here in the last five years. His GRANDEST, therefore, is of considerable interest as he bids to build on a fair Newmarket debut run now first-time cheekpieces are fitted. Jalingo needs to leave behind a moderate 1m run at Lingfield last time but may appreciate the return to 7f, having run with credit over this distance at the same venue on debut. The pick of the newcomers may be Karl Burke's Jaeger Train, a Captain Rio gelding that could potentially be at home on this surface.

Top Tip: Grandest (3)
Watch out for: Jalingo (5)

Grandest was lacking for know how when fifth on debut at Newmarket in July, yet he was strong in the market that day, and with that experience under his belt he gets the nod to make amends here. Jalingo is better than he showed last time and can get involved, with newcomer Jaeger Train a tentative selection for third spot.

STONEY QUINE turned in a disappointing effort when third of four over C&D latest as her rider had been allowed the run of the race, yet she was well-held come the line. Nevertheless, she may be granted another soft lead in this small field and may be worth one more chance in view of her earlier course form (albeit her two wins came over 7f). Maupiti Express (second) had Sexy Secret (fourth) behind over C&D last time but both were badly outpaced by the winner. The former may improve for the fitting of first-time blinkers today though and may put up most resistance as the remaining rival, Camatini, has a bit to find on these terms.

Nevertheless, she was entitled to come on for the run - her first since May - and based on her earlier performances in France, she probably sets the form bar today, with the fitting of first-time blinkers a possible source of additional improvement. Richard Fahey inmate Marble Statuette is entitled to improve with the benefit of her Lingfield debut behind her, though Sugar Town needs to build on her two previous course efforts is she's to figure.

Although dropping back in trip, he's a distance winner and may be capable of defying a 6lb rise. Penalised Wolverhampton scorer Two No Bids (who had Barbados Bob back in second that day) ran well here in November and has place possibilities along with Light From Mars, who is having his second start since re-joining Ron Harris, and the dropped-in-trip Secret Beau, who was well-supported when fourth over 1m at Lingfield latest.

Cadeaux Pearl is on a good mark at present and bounced back to form with a good second here on Tuesday. Stablemate Jiminy was third over track and trip earlier in the month and should be thereabouts with a repeat of that effort, though preferred ahead of both is MIAKO. Michael Appleby's representative has been dropped 3lb for finishing down the field at Wolverhampton and is therefore able to drop into 0-65 company this afternoon. He won by five lengths over C&D off just 2lb lower in February and thus looks feasibly weighted on his return to Fibresand.

Watch out for: Cadeaux Pearl (1)

The Scott Dixon pair Cadeaux Pearl and Jiminy ran well on their latest starts respectively and ought to again get involved. However, it may just be worth taking a chance on Miako who has slipped in the weights, has shown his best form at this venue in the past, and should have come on for last month's Wolverhampton return.

SIR GEOFFREY returned a comfortable winner in a C&D contest for apprentice riders last week and, racing unpenalised for that victory, he could take all of the beating while maintaining his association with Matthew Hopkins. Danzoe has been raised 5lb for scoring over this trip at Wolverhampton last time out and can battle it out with Fathom Five, who won off 4lb lower over 6f here last month, for the minor honours.
