SOMCHINE clearly relishes good ground and he was far from disgraced when third at Fontwell last month. His last win came over 2m at this track and he is now just 3lb above that mark. The form of Cody Wyoming's win at Newton Abbot last time is extremely moderate but he couldn't have done it any easier. High Ron was second in this race 12 months ago but now finds himself 14lb higher, mainly due to his hugely impressive win at Uttoxeter in July.

Avispa is one of the most frustrating horses in training at the moment, as she has finished second six times from nine starts since she won a Listed bumper at Aintree in April 2014. She clearly has the ability to win this race but it is hard to recommend her. LETS HOPE SO was an impressive bumper winner at Uttoxeter in March 2015 and, considering she was off for such a long time, she did well to finish second on her hurdles debut at Huntingdon last month. Fit The Brief would have a big chance if the heavy fall last time has not left a mark, while Happy Diva should also be considered.

The market will hopefully assist in assessing the chances of Deshan, off track for nearly a year since throwing away a winning opportunity on debut at Warwick (strongly-backed favourite) when swerving badly in the final furlong of an ordinary bumper. Richard Johnson is now booked and he requires careful monitoring but MAGIC BULLET performed more than creditably first time up last month when fourth in what looked a useful bumper won by Clondaw Cracker. His yard have a superb record in these affairs and he should improve considerably. Sandymount and Tara Time have also shown enough to become involved.
