This could prove a formality for classy hurdler SALVER if taking to the larger obstacles. Narrowly defeated in the Grade 2 Select Hurdle here in April, Gary & Josh Moore's charge is related to a couple of winning chasers and will likely have the measure of Admiral Stewart on such favourable terms. The latter is a maiden hurdle winner at Ffos Las, but has it all to do on his first start over fences.
This looks to be a pretty easy task for SALVER, who makes his chase debut in this; he is way clear in terms of ratings from his only rival. He was also rated higher over hurdles than the Jamie Snowden runner. A Grade 2 winner of a Juvenile Hurdle at Chepstow back in December 2023, he ran with plenty of credit on many occasions over hurdles; therefore, he can make it a winning chase debut here in this. Admiral Stewart is the only rival in this; a decent enough hurdler, he was lightly raced over the smaller obstacles but was a point winner and therefore has some sort of experience over the larger fences. He can run well here on his chase debut but might have to settle with a place finish.

Invincible Nao landed a double over fences at Plumpton at the start of the year. However, this shorter distance and faster ground could prove his undoing, and a chance is taken on KADO DE JOIE. Nicky Henderson's charge has won four times over hurdles, including over 2m4f at Worcester when last in action, and looks well worth a crack at the larger obstacles. The Good Doctor has proved best over shorter trips so far.
A four-time winner over hurdles, Nicky Henderson's KADO DE JOIE was last seen winning a handicap hurdle contest at Worcester back in May. He makes his chase debut in this contest and looks to be the one to beat in this. The highest-rated hurdler in this field, he had a good strike rate over the smaller obstacles. The yard's horses always do well with a fence in front of them; therefore, he can make it a winning chase debut here. Invincible Nao has the experience edge with 11 runs over fences previously; a three-time winner, he can make that experience count here. However, he might just bump into a nice one who could turn into a nice chaser in time. And The Good Doctor is yet to win in four starts over the larger obstacles; he can run well here and fill the places for connections.

INTO THE PARK ticks plenty of boxes and holds strong claims. It was good ground when he went close at Uttoxeter on last month's reappearance and a bold bid is anticipated in this lower grade raised only 2lb. Paso Doble made a winning comeback at Fontwell and is preferred to his new stablemate Mon Champion, a winner over hurdles in France. Akimos may prove a threat on his handicap debut.
PASO DOBLE was a nice enough winner on seasonal reappearance last time out, landing a class 3 handicap hurdle at Fontwell by a pretty easy one and a quarter lengths in the end. He was always keeping on nicely towards the line and does have a 4lb rise in the weights to deal with here, but given the manner of his victory last time, there could be more to come from the Paul Nicholls charge. Akimos ended last season with a nice performance in a maiden hurdle at Ffos-Las; he can build on that effort now going into handicap company for the first time, and this mark of 115 could be pretty low given the yard that he hails from. He is sure to run well here but might have to settle for a place finish in this. And Into The Park ran a creditable 2nd at Uttoxeter last time out; he is sure to come on for that run and go well in this contest.

With two NH Flat victories to his name, HURRICANE PAT looks just the type to excel in this discipline. The five-year-old ended last season with a comfortable triumph at Chepstow and this looks a suitable opportunity for him to make a winning hurdles bow. Laguna Beach offered plenty of encouragement on his debut in the Goffs Defender Bumper at the Punchestown Festival and is feared most, with Tread Carefully the pick of those with experience over timber.
The only one with winning form in this contest is HURRICANE PAT, who was a two-time bumper winner last season, winning at this venue on his rules debut by a neck before backing that up with a 3rd place finish in a better contest. He then went on to finish a few places better on his final run of the season, landing the odds in a Chepstow bumper by 3 and three-quarter lengths in the end. He looks like a nice recruit for hurdling this season, and they have found a good opportunity for him to get off the mark at the first attempt. Laguna Beach came 5th in a very decent-looking Punchestown bumper back in April; connections have wasted no time in getting him over hurdles, and given the yard he hails from, he has to be taken very seriously here. And Greedy Smith could only manage a 7th place finish on his hurdle debut; he would have learnt a whole lot from that effort and can go a few places better in this to fill the places.

Having made a winning seasonal debut at Newbury last November, Aurigny Mill merits respect on his return to action. However, Robert Walford's charge has yet to shine in two outings at this course and NARDARAN rates as the one to beat. The four-year-old was reported to have 'improved a lot for the summer' after landing the spoils at Plumpton, with an 8lb higher mark looking workable. Royal Way could also feature on the back of a wind procedure.
The lightly raced NARDARAN was a nice winner of a Plumpton handicap hurdle last time out, landing that contest by an easy 9 lengths in the end; he does have an 8lb rise in the weights to deal with here, however. But he won in ready fashion last time out; therefore, he looks the sort that can defy that hike in the weights and make it back-to-back wins for the first time in his career. Royal Way is the main danger here; in his first run since the wind operation, he will no doubt come on nicely for that, and his yard is going pretty well at the minute. He can run well here in this, but he might have to settle with a place finish before kicking on with this run under his belt. And Aurigny Mill was a nice enough winner at Taunton back in January; just 3 lbs higher in the weights now, he is sure to run well here but might have to settle with filling the places.

ONLY THE BOLD won the Summer Cup at Uttoxeter when last seen and remains on a workable rating on his return to the fray. The Jamie Snowden yard is in brilliant form and this looks a good opportunity for the 10-year-old. The Big Breakaway finished third over 3m5f at Warwick in March and warrants a market check on his first appearance for the Syd Hosie stable. Of the rest, Courtland makes the most appeal.
This looks to be a nice opportunity for the in-form ONLY THE BOLD to make it back-to-back chase victories; a winner of a class 2 handicap chase at Uttoxeter back in June, he does come into this off the back of a 4 lb rise in the weights as well as a 133-day break. However, the yard's horses are going very well at the moment, and he does tend to run well fresh. He looks like a chaser on the up despite being 10 years old now, and he can defy the rise in the weights and land this contest, a race that is similar to the one he won last time out. Courtland unseated in the Sodexo Gold Cup last time; the quick turnaround should pose no issues for him, and he is a reliable type who can run well in this and land a place finish. Once rated in the 150s, The Big Breakaway placed on a few occasions at the back end of last season; he can run well here after the break and fill the places for connections.

Point-to-point scorer Connies Hill is a half-sister to a winning staying hurdler/chaser so she may prove better as she steps up in distance. With that in mind, SAINT INVICTUS gets the nod. The four-year-old finished second between the flags before changing hands for 95,000 pounds in February and the booking of Harry Cobden catches the eye. Any market support behind Maria Mes would be interesting.
DROPEMATTHESTATION had the two runs in the point-to-point scene and was a winner by 3 lengths at Knightwick for previous connections. He looks like a nice type for going under rules, and he has joined a very good yard that knows how to get them ready for their first proper outing. This looks to be a nice starting point for him, as he is sure to have a future over obstacles in the near future. Connies Hill was a nice winner of a point-to-point 100 days or so ago; she joins her new yard and looks to have a really good chance of running well here on her rules debut. And Saint Invictus came 2nd in his sole point-to-point; he is sure to build on that and run well on the racecourse and rules debut.
