Nicky Henderson has monopolised this event in recent years - he has trained the last six winners - and his O O SEVEN could prove tough to beat after a bloodless success at Huntingdon. His stablemate Premier Bond is another interesting contender after his success in a Ffos Las bumper in April. Ballagh was highly tried last term and deserves a market check on his return, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see What A Moment leave a disappointing effort at Uttoxeter behind him now he faces obstacles for the first time.

Plenty of fingers were burned when BRISE VENDEENNE was defeated at Musselburgh in November, but she moves into handicap company on a handy mark, and this half-sister to Vroum Vroum Mag probably deserves another chance. She does remain a maiden, though, and At First Light is a pretty attractive alternative after she scored, albeit fortuitously, for the third time this season at Worcester in August. Lady Of Longstone ran a cracker from the front at Kempton and could be a player if she gets an uncontested lead, and Glenariff might outperform her forecast price if returning to the form she showed in bumpers last term.

A renewal perhaps lacking some of the anticipated stardust following the defection of Un De Sceaux and Sprinter Sacre, but a strong contest nevertheless. The last three winners have all gone on to land the Champion Chase the following March, and while it may be a stretch to suggest VIBRATO VALTAT is about to embark down the same route, there's no doubt he is a six-year-old moving firmly in the right direction. He readily brushed aside his rivals in the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter last month and will relish any softening of the ground, so he is taken to augment Paul Nicholls' fantastic record in this race. Sire De Grugy has a point to prove at present but is unbeaten over fences round here, while Special Tiara will have come on plenty for his reappearance in the Fortria Chase and commands respect.

Mountainous and Restless Harry had both lost their way slightly before having their fortunes turned around by new trainers. CAROLE'S DESTRIER is on a workable mark, being just 4lb above the rating off which he won a competitive handicap at Ascot in February. He is sure to be better for the outing, when fifth in the Badger Ales Trophy at Wincanton last month, and this extra distance could bring about some improvement. It would be unwise to dismiss Super Duty despite some uninspiring form figures, while Just A Par and Relax are others to consider.
