The opener is a particularly interesting heat with the Irish filly Jer's Girl lining up after a comfortable success at Limerick and Kamaloka taking her chance after some good efforts in her native France. That pair clearly deserve the utmost respect, but Alan King has won two of the last three renewals of this race, and his MYSTERY CODE looks the one to side with after she won with plenty up her sleeve at Fakenham. The selection had Culture De Sivola in arrears there, but Nick Williams' charge subsequently held Forgiving Glance, Bracken Brae and New Vennture at Leicester, and shouldn't be underestimated.

MORNING REGGIE didn't get particularly far in a very competitive race at Newbury last week, but he did show some positive signs last season, particularly when sluicing up at Warwick in March. He might be worth another chance but does face some useful rivals, including Great Link, who made a winning start for Dan Skelton in June and could be open to any amount of improvement. Aigle De La See was useful over hurdles - he was sent off favourite for the ultra competitive EBF Final at Sandown - and has some experience of chasing in France.

All of these arrive here with question marks regarding their chances. Flying Angel has shown the best form, by a mile, over hurdles and he looks sure to be on the premises but he does have to give weight away to all of his rivals. BRAAVOS was a decent bumper horse before running terribly bad on his hurdles debut last month, that could have been down to the 2m4f trip on very soft going and today's conditions should suit him better. Duke Arcadio won a very moderate bumper when last seen but he is at least progressive, while the others look up against it.

A high-class renewal in which those from the head of the weights are fancied to dominate. Thunder And Roses was impressive when winning the Irish National and a spin over hurdles 23 days ago will have put him spot on, while last season's Grand National runner-up Saint Are might have just needed the run at Cheltenham last month and it's interesting that the cheekpieces are back on. Algernon Pazham is the least exposed member of this line-up and looked an improved animal when only beaten a neck on his reappearance at Bangor, but GOONYELLA shades the verdict. He looks well capable of winning a race of this nature having finished a close-up second in last season's Scottish Grand National, and a bronze medal finish over hurdles at Cork five weeks ago will have brought him to the boil. Others to note are Vics Canvas, Soll, No Planning and 2014 Grand National hero Pineau De Re.

Many Clouds and Menorah are clearly admirable sorts but both will struggle to give weight away to the pair at the bottom, despite looking OK on official figures. DON POLI looked a relentless galloper when taking the RSA Chase in style earlier in the year and his performance at Punchestown can be forgiven as he had a hard race at Cheltenham. Southfield Theatre was disappointing on his seasonal debut, even if he was up against Coneygree, and it is hard to see him reversing form with Don Poli despite his fitness edge.

ROCKY CREEK is the class act in the race and makes plenty of appeal now dropped in grade. Paul Nicholls' nine-year-old lost little in defeat when second behind the King George-bound Don Cossack at Down Royal on his seasonal reappearance and gained vital experience over these unique fences when completing in both of the last two Grand Nationals (fifth in 2014 and 17th this year). If this shorter trip is too sharp for the selection, Double Ross, who has been in good order in two outings this term, could be the one to capitalise. 2lb higher than when winning last year's renewal, Poole Master is also worth a market check.
