KYLEAKIN LASS could hardly be better drawn in this sprint over the minimum distance and the improving Kyllachy filly left a lasting impression when fifth at Glorious Goodwood. Under a patient Richard Hughes ride, she encountered all sorts of traffic problems before making up considerable ground inside the final half a furlong. There is enough to suggest she's well handicapped off her present mark and there shouldn't be any excuses from stall two. Face The Problem and Piscean can also get competitive.

Edge Closer was poorly drawn when third at Newmarket in July, but has got the rail pitch here, and should go close from a tempting mark. The Thrill Is Gone shaped as if building up to a big effort last time, and is respected, along with recent Doncaster winner Face The Problem.

The beautifully-bred son of New Approach created a favourable impression when landing the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot in fine style and he confirmed that promise when out-running odds of 8-1 in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. A repeat of that would see him go very close now eased in class but keep a close eye on the once-raced Fantastic Moon and Richmond Stakes runner-up Master Of War.

Burke's Rock is open to more improvement, while Sir Michael Stoute's Dank is closely matched with Ladys First on the back of their ding-dong battle to the line at Haydock in Listed company last month. However, they may all have GATHERING to beat, with John Gosden's decision to drop her back to 1m expected to prove a profitable one.

MAN OF ACTION has been handed a 1lb rise in the ratings for his effort at HQ behind the progressive Sir John Hawkwood and that form reads particularly well. This represents a similar assignment for the son of Elusive Quality and it would come as no surprise if a repeat was good enough to see him score, possibly at the expense of Mijhaar. He may just appreciate this better ground, while Valiant, who remains unexposed in this company after just three career starts for William Haggas, is another to take seriously.

Mijhaar was well supported for a York handicap last time and was still going well when stumbling inside the final 3f. He has a solid chance of making amends now. It looks significant that Jeremy Noseda has booked William Buick for Attenborough, who is tried with the first-time cheekpieces but PROXIMITY is open to stacks of improvement for Sir Michael Stoute and his daughter of Gulf Pearl couldn't have done it easier in a Windsor maiden in July. An initial mark of 77 looks fair and, with the yard having recently come into some form, she could be worth siding with.
