Mozimba is the only runner in the field with previous experience to their name but needs to improve considerably on the level of form shown on debut at Thirsk if she's to figure. From a high draw, and representing an in-form stable that are capable of readying a newcomer, HOLY GRAIL is preferred. Her stablemate Pippin Street is also considered, though Mark Johnston representative Muhadathat should know her job first time out and is feared most.

With so many newcomers the market will obviously be informative, but the speedily-bred MIDNIGHT MALIBU is one who makes obvious appeal for a stable which had a very impressive first-time-out winner here recently. Mark Johnston's Muhadathat and the Richard Fahey pair Pippin Street and Holy Grail are others who make obvious appeal on paper.

VENTURA CASTLE was bought out of a seller for 7,200gns after bounding four lengths clear to score at Lingfield and is interesting on his first run for David Nicholls, a trainer who is a dab hand at placing his horses at plating level. Ronya rattled the crossbar over a similar trip in claiming company at Leicester last time and is feared most, though it is possible Kayo Koko could figure if his stamina holds out over this longer trip.

ROYNA was a beaten favourite in this 12 months ago but a repeat of the pick of last year's form might be enough to see her triumph on her return to action and provide in-form Karl Burke with another winner. The former David Barron representative has been nudged up 1lb for that effort but remains open to further improvement for his new stable and is expected to give a good account of himself once again. Tumblewind has dropped 1lb lower than his win at Thirsk last year but has an absence to overcome. A bigger danger may be recent Newcastle second Kommander Kirkup.

The main danger may be C&D winner Maven, who didn't get the race run to suit when sixth at Pontefract last time, form which has since been boosted by the fourth going on to win at HQ subsequently. Taqneen steps up in trip with the benefit of a comeback run at Kempton behind him and could also finish in the shake-up.

Rosairlie has dropped back down to the same mark as when winning this race 12 months ago and is worth a market check with her reappearance run at Catterick now behind her. There are several in-form alternatives in the line-up, however, and Sir Mark Prescott's SARPECH, who has been restricted to distances up to 1m4f so far, is of interest now granted a stiffer test. Serenity Now has been knocking on the door over shorter distances, while big runs from Tuscan Gold and Kodicil would come as no surprise either.

The well-bred SARPECH is taken to confirm the promise of last week's handicap debut second, but is unlikely to have things all his own way in what looks quite a competitive race for the level. Lady Yeats is unexposed as a stayer and should have more to come this year, while Kodicil's fine record here means he's another who's entitled to plenty of respect.
