FLYING PICKETS just about sets the form standard based on his Beverley second in claiming grade when last sighted. The selection was outpaced over the minimum trip that day but is expected to fare better now upped to this longer distance. Sophar needs to improve upon his two previous efforts, the latest of which was over 6f here, to figure, as does Valley Ace, who is visored for the first time after a flat effort at York. Mad For Run is feared most, based on his Thirsk third last month.
Flying Pickets should confirm recent course form with Mad For Fun and Sophar, but even then he was beaten a long way in a maiden claimer, and Valley Ace ought to be able to win if the fitting of a visor doesn't have a negative effect.
Unplaced in both starts. Well beaten at 25-1 behind Voodoo Prince when 13th of 14 on his latest outing at Haydock over 1m (good to firm) last month.

Half-sister to Wind Flow, won eight times between 1m 3f and 2m.
EMPEROR OF ROME has improved with both starts this term and bumped into a potentially useful sort in Captain Brown when runner-up at Newcastle last time. The drop back to this shorter trip is unlikely to hinder and, on fast ground known to suit, Michael Dods' charge gets the vote. Joyful Sound took a forward step when fifth at Salisbury earlier in the month and is feared most, although market support for James Given's newcomer, Sugar Apple, would be noteworthy considering she is a half-sister to several middle-distance winners.
Newcomers Sugar Apple and John Louis won't have to be up to much to figure in a weak race, but Emperor of Rome is difficult to get away from following his solid placed efforts in stronger company.

Despite the small numbers this looks a competitive event and PETSAS PLEASURE is only a tentative choice. The selection scored over 1m1f on his last visit here and may be capable of shrugging off a 6lb rise now stepped up to this longer trip. Timocracy is a model of consistency and a reproduction of his recent Bath second would see him go close, despite a 2lb rise in the weights. Media Stars was beaten by just a nose over this trip at Newcastle when last sighted and, racing off the same mark, is another to consider.
Marino Prince and Petsas Pleasure come here on the back of wins and could be the pair to concentrate on, with the latter just preferred.

Dickie Le Davoir has been a revelation this season and a huge credit to connections, but his last run at Doncaster suggests the handicapper may have finally managed to halt his progression and the vote instead goes to NOODLES BLUE BOY, who was beaten by less than a length at Bath earlier in the month and has been eased 1lb in the weights. Piazza San Pietro is capable of making his presence felt and will appreciate the drop into 0-95 company so completes the shortlist.
Unless Fitz Flyer is lit up by a visor, Noodles Blue Boy can dominate this field from the outset. Piazza San Pietro looks his biggest threat.
Winner of seven races from 7f to 1m on ground varying from good to firm to heavy and on the all-weather. Finished 6l behind Fremen when fourth of 11 at 12-1 on his latest outing at Leicester over 1m (good to firm) last month. Having his first run for a new stable today.

HUMOR ME RENE pulled up over hurdles at Newton Abbot in April but benefitted from the return to the Flat when landing a claimer at Kempton the following month. The selection usually goes close in this grade and shouldn't have any problems coping with a slight drop back in trip. At the weights, Just Five also commands respect. John Weymes' gelding was outpaced at Leicester last time and the step up to this longer distance is warranted. Receiving well all around, Paco Belle is another that merits consideration.
Humor Me Rene is 2 from 3 at this level since arriving from Ireland and has been found another good opportunity. Just Five could push her closest if his stamina holds out.
He has won three times from 7f to 1m 1f on the all-weather, but last win was over two years ago. Finished 2 1/4l behind No Quarter when fourth of 13 at 10-1 on his latest outing here over 7f (good to firm) in April.

FIRE KING was beaten by less than a length over this trip at Bath last month and, although raised 2lb in the weights, is expected to give a good account while evidently in good heart. See The Storm prevailed by a neck at Yarmouth when last sighted and warrants respect, with his weight-for-age allowance, now taking on his elders. Fellow three-year-old Byron Bear was a credible second at Newcastle last month and, along with Dialogue, who is well-treated on the pick of his handicap efforts, completes the shortlist.
The 3-y-os Byron Bear and See The Storm look to have more going for them than most, but Dialogue caught the eye here on his reappearance and gets the nod.

MECCA'S TEAM ran her best race to date when third at Catterick last month and connections view now as the right time to pitch her into handicap company. Michael Dods' filly appears to have been allocated a fair mark and gets the vote, just ahead of Tancred Spirit, who has repeatedly shown she has the ability to go close in handicaps but continues to find one or two too strong. Hootys Agogo is entitled to be thereabouts now eased 1lb in the weights after his Leicester third and completes the shortlist.
Most have had plenty of chances, and Mecca's Team gets the vote with only 2 turf runs behind her. Tancred Spirit should run her usual solid race, with Hootys Agogo also respected on recent efforts.
