Jim Goldie was responsible for the winner of this race 12 months ago and he appears to have another decent chance with BOTHAM tonight. Returning to the scene of his latest career win can only help and he is now rated 9lb lower. Machir Bay appeared to benefit from the application of cheekpieces (worn again) when third at Hamilton latest and he warrants respect, while Dubai Gem (also engaged to run at Warwick on Thursday) may improve for her comeback fourth here 23 days ago.
Impossible to be confident about anything, that said Botham runs his fair share of respectable races and therefore gets the nod. Dubai Gem and Machir Bay are 2 others to consider.

It looks a tip in itself that Barry Hills brings just the one horse, SOLE DANSER, on the 770-mile round trip from Lambourn. He took a big step forward from his debut performance at Newmarket when fourth at Chester last time and this looks easier. Moral Issue has been knocking on the door recently and should go close again. Spes Nostra disappointed on his reappearance but went well over C&D on his debut last year and could fare best of the remainder.
Barry Hills does very well with his raiders here and Sole Danser looks likely to improve an already cracking strike rate having shown plenty of promise on his final start at 2 yrs. Moral Issue looks the chief threat.
He has won three times from 7f to 1m 1f on good to firm ground and on the all-weather. Finished 10l behind Amazing Blue Sky when sixth of 11 at 4-1 on his latest outing at Haydock over 1m 2f (good to firm) last month.

DARING DREAM gets the vote to follow up his victory in this race last year despite being rated 7lb higher now. He produced his best effort for some time when runner-up over C&D late last month and that form has taken a boost with the third winning twice since. Bella Noir is the least exposed member of the line-up with only four runs under her belt and could improve for stepping up to a mile, while Dream Win wouldn't be without a chance if finding top gear.
Daring Dream shaped as if returning to his very best over C&D last time, and should get his head in front in this race for a second year running. Dream Win is better than he's been able to show so far this year and looks the main threat.

Successful at 6f and 7f on good to firm and good ground. Third of 7 behind Pravda Street beaten 3/4l at 85-40fav on his latest outing at Newcastle over 7f (good to firm) earlier this month.
PRAVDA STREET showed a likeable attitude when striking on his debut for the Brian Ellison stable at Newcastle recently and, still 9lb lower than his win at HQ in May 2009, he will be well fancied to go in again. Social Rhythm, who has two course wins under her belt, was running consistently well towards the end of last year and warrants respect now returning, while Music Festival makes plenty of appeal off bottom-weight.
Pravda Street cashed in on a much-reduced mark when scoring at the first time of asking for Brian Ellison and still has plenty in hand off his revised mark on the form he showed when with Paul Cole. Social Rhythm ended 2010 in great heart and is still fairly treated, so she could be the one for forecast backers.

Namwahjobo showed that he had improved significantly from two to three years when landing his maiden over this trip at Redcar late last month and rates a leading player now sent handicapping, but TRO NESA edges the vote. Ann Duffield's consistent filly arguably produced her best effort yet when a close second over C&D last time and a repeat performance would make her tough to beat. Alkhawarah is of interest on her handicap debut.
Tro Nesa could ideally do with more testing conditions, nonetheless she posted a career-best neck second over C&D last time and a third win is a strong possibility. Namwahjobo justified market support at Redcar in May and looks threatening given his unexposed profile ahead of this switch to handicaps.
Successful at 7f and 1m 4f on good and soft ground, but last win was over two years ago. Finished 8l behind Kiama Bay when fourth of 9 at 5-1 on his latest outing at Catterick over 1m 4f (good) in March.

It's difficult to look past POKFULHAM representing last year's winning stable. A useful dual-purpose performer, he currently looks well handicapped in this sphere and anything like his third in a competitive handicap at York last week should see him cross the line in front. Simonside is now 2lb lower than his last winning mark and should be in the shake-up, while Puy D'Arnac arrives here on the back of an effortless win over timber and cannot be ruled out.
Jim Goldie could well have a major say in the outcome via last year's winner Forrest Flyer and the improving Pokfulham, with preference going to the latter who has the benefit of a couple of runs. Cat O'Nine Tails shaped as if she was about to hit top form at York last week and also looks extremely dangerous.
Won on her latest outing when 1-7fav at Musselburgh over 1m 4f (good to firm) earlier this month, beating A Southside Boy by 8l.

JEU DE VIVRE will prove a tough nut to crack in the finale. Although we didn't learn a great deal from her win at Musselburgh last time (only two runners), that will have done her confidence the world of good and there should be a lot more to come. Commander Veejay benefited from the step up to this trip when third at Redcar latest and should give another good account of himself here, while Damascus Symphony certainly isn't out of it.
It was only a match that Jeu de Vivre won last time, but she'd shaped well on a couple of occasions prior to that and may have more to offer. Purkab and Retreat Content are 2 live threats.
