PURE STEEL weakened after a mistake in Grade 3 company here last month but can bounce back now. The Yeats gelding had been an impressive winner over C&D previously and may benefit from coming back in distance again. Similarly Relieved Of Duties drops in class after finding graded company a bit hot last time. He had run well in a novice event at Cheltenham prior to that and could be a big player in this company. I Am Lorenzo won at Fairyhouse a month ago but faces a tougher task on this occasion.
A trappy novice chase with a few taking a big drop in grade but having a bit to prove. Break My Soul has struggled in two starts since making a winning debut over fences, finishing tailed off behind Romeo Coolio at Christmas when last seen. This is much easier but she has a penalty so is poorly in at the weights with a couple, most notably PURE STEEL, who is coming off a disappointing run in a better race himself at the course last time. That was more through a lack of stamina over almost 2m4f than anything else, however, and his earlier win over this C&D reads well. Ground conditions are very much in his favour, something that can't be said of Relieved Of Duties, who struggled on a similar surface last time.

KISS WILL has been the beaten favourite on his two outings over fences to date and can make it third time lucky now. The Tunis gelding was turned over at a short price on his chase debut behind a smart sort in Flicker Of Hope and then found Koktail Divin too strong at Leopardstown over Christmas. He's still unexposed and this looks like a nice opportunity. He should confirm Leopardstown form with Shuffle The Deck, who was four lengths behind him in third. Pray Tell ran well at a big price when second here on New Year's Eve and a similar effort could see him get involved.
Willie Mullins won this last year and appears to field a strong team this time around, headed by Kiss Will, who is the chosen mount of Paul Townend. He was blown away by a smart rival at Leopardstown when jumping to his left, and will want to jump straighter here going the other way around. It may be another Mullins who wins this year's race, Emmet fielding the promising SOLDIER IN MILAN. A point and bumper winner who was pulled up in the same Leopardstown race at Kiss Will on his debut over fences, he showed that running to be all wrong when a front-running fourth at Gowran Park latest, still looking in need of the outing a little, and he should be ready to produce a peak effort now. Spread Boss Ted and Supersundae were both classy over hurdles, running well in defeat at Grade 1 level, and provide Willie Mullins with a strong second and third string given they're open to further improvement.

THE LOVELY MAN revels in testing conditions and comes here in fine form. Gavin Cromwell's charge was a good winner over fences at Navan in mid-December before landing a handicap hurdle at Gowran last month. He races off a 10lb higher chase mark now, but looks progressive. Gordon Elliott has won the last four runnings of this and Jack Kennedy sides with Lucky Lyreen, who stayed well when winning at Down Royal last month. He got the better of Born Braver by a neck in a driving finish, but is 2lb worse off. This marathon trip could bring further improvement, though.
Gordon Elliottt has won the race six times since 2018, including the last four, but he may have to give way to Gavin Cromwell and THE LOVELY MAN this time. The selection took a Navan handicap chase in style two starts back and followed up back hurdling last time. A strong stayer who handles deep ground well, he has a 10lb higher mark now but looks highly progressive and may improve again for the longer trip. Patter Merchant might be the pick of the Elliott brigade, being on a lower mark than when running well in last season's Pertemps Final. He looks a likely improver on this handicap debut over fences, with his capable rider claiming a handy 5lb. Binge Worthy, who ran his best race to date over fences when third at Navan last time, has a nagging stamina to query but is a possible improver in first-time cheekpieces, and Lucky Lyreen, who improved up in trip in cheekpieces himself last time, help round out a strong challenge for Elliott.

There is not much to choose between LAZARE DE STAR and Zeus Power based on their meeting at Navan last month. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding, who previously won a maiden at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting, looked the winner most of the way up the straight that day only to be headed in the closing stages. The combination of this easier track and a 5lb swing in the weights may give him the edge. Heads Up had smart form in bumpers last season and has taken well to hurdles, but needs to bounce back after a disappointing effort at Cheltenham.
He was too keen and jumped poorly over a longer trip in a better race at Cheltenham last time, but it could be a different story for HEADS UP now he's dropped to 2m in a first-time hood. Runner-up in last season's Champion Bumper, he hasn't quite matched that level as a hurdler but this could be the day he does, leading to a possible crack at the Supreme. Stede Bonnet is improving, winning his last two, and could emerge as the threat with ground conditions in his favour. There's little between old rivals Zeus Power and Lazare De Star, with the last-named taken to reverse form in the first-time hood.

DANI DONADONI won a Limerick bumper in impressive fashion last spring and beat all bar Lord Rouge when switched to hurdles in a 19-runner Cork maiden in December. He needs to bounce back after being soundly beaten later that month at Leopardstown, but is taken to do so. Ksar Fatal and Panjandrum must also put disappointing efforts behind them. The former, who easily won a point-to-point and impressed in a Gowran bumper, has now joined Barry Connell from Willie Mullins. Panjandrum won a point and a bumper too, but reportedly bled when pulled up on his hurdling debut at Limerick.
DANI DONADONI was fourth in the big bumper at the festival here back in the spring and he made a promising beginning over hurdles when just beaten by a smart sort of Gordon Elliott's. He disappointed at Christmas but plenty from the yard weren't firing then and he should take this if bouncing back. It won't be easy, though, as Ksar Fatal, a former stablemate, had looked a top prospect on his debut before being sent off a short favourite for that same Punchestown bumper. He flopped but the subsequent absence and change of yard suggests something was amiss and he could easily get back on track by making a winning debut over hurdles. Panjandrum is third choice but needs to bounce back from a poor hurdles debut at Limerick.

NETTUNO ITALIA opened his account over a similar trip here last month and may follow up with Danny Gilligan keeping the partnership intact. The form of that contest has been well advertised by the runner up since and his ability to handle testing ground will stand the gelding in good stead. Kir won over 3m at Limerick in October and is weighted to confirm superiority over Fairyhouse winner From The Ashes on their meeting at Limerick shortly after Christmas. Gorvitho and Drop A Threat both step up in trip on their handicap debuts, while West Of Bally and Sean Mc are others to consider.
American Jukebox came up short in a good novice at Thurles last time when perhaps made a little too much use of. He'd earlier bolted up at Tramore and could have a say on this handicap debut, with his useful rider claiming a handy 5lb. There has to be a chance he'll prove vulnerable to something down the weights, though, and NETTUNO ITALIA fits the bill nicely. He won with any amount in hand over C&D last time, showing himself to be all about stamina, and a 9lb rise may not be enough to stop him in this higher grade. Gorvitho is interesting on handicap debut for Mullins and Townend, with West Of Bally another possible improver now handicapping.

BEGORRA MAN showed plenty of promise both over hurdles and in a bumper last term. The Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding hasn't been seen since finishing runner-up to the impressive Gameofinches in this race last year with a number of subsequent winners behind. Soul Asylum was narrowly denied in a point-to-point at Dromahane in November before being snapped up by current connections for 280,000 pounds. Point-to-point winner Heldam faded in the straight when favourite on his debut under Rules at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting but it is too soon to write him off.
Begorra Man sets a strong form standard, having run behind Kopek Des Bordes in a deep maiden hurdle on debut and then chased home another promising Mullins performer in this race 12 months ago. He hasn't been seen since, though, suggesting issues, and he may again have to give way one of Willie's, with HELDAM taken to show his bumper debut form to be all wrong. He'd looked most promising when winning a point and this softer ground should see him in a much better light. He can yet book his ticket to Cheltenham. Soul Asylum brings significant potential as well for Elliott and could have a major say judged on his point form.

JUMP ALLEN won twice over hurdles last spring on varying ground conditions, including over 2m4f at Sandown. The seven-year-old is preferred to The Nagger Reidy, who has also won twice over hurdles, including when well backed on his penultimate start at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival. Dual bumper winner That Danny Feeling could bounce back after disappointing over hurdles here recently, with Raydamann another to consider.
Something of a novelty event and hard to be confident. Jump Allen is the obvious one given he was progressive over hurdles last spring, but he hasn't run since April. Let's instead go with THAT DANNY FEELING, who boasts a pair of bumper wins to his name and clearly needed his recent run over hurdles at the course. Most importantly he has the assistance of Katie Walsh, who has a massive edge over her rivals. The Nagger Reidy is another who brings recent hurdles form. He's third on the list.
