Dickie Le Davoir was back to his best when scoring at Newcastle last week and given he has a decent record at this venue, it is no surprise to see him turned out quickly under a 6lb penalty. However, he remains one to treat with caution and a safer option might prove to be ANOTHER CITIZEN, an eyecatching third at Chester on Friday. This stiffer test will suit him better and he is on a fair mark now. Consistant ran well to finish second here last time and should do so again.

Watch out for: Dickie Le Davoir (1)

Consistant and Bartley look set to go well, but Restless Bay is down to a mark he should be winning off before long and gets the nod after running his most encouraging race for his new yard last time.

A weak maiden that really shouldn't take a great deal of winning and CROSS MY HEART looks to have been handed a guilt-edged opportunity. The daughter of Sakhee's Secret left behind a modest debut effort at Warwick when finishing a good third at York recently and it's worth noting that Newmarket trainer William Haggas has found Pontefract a happy hunting ground in recent times, especially with his juveniles. Another has shown up well in two starts so far and is expected to provide most resistance, with Bapak Pesta rating best of the rest.

A few in with chances here but YOJIMBO signalled a return to form when finishing a close-up third at Sandown on Friday and this is a track that tends to favour prominent racers. Merchant Of Medici chased home the well-handicapped Kalk Bay at Beverley last time and remains on a decent mark himself, while Alfred Hutchinson has to be respected despite failing to give his running at York. Byronic Hero hasn't proved the easiest to catch right but he can boast a good record around here.

It can often pay to side with progressive fillies at this time of the year and LOVE ISLAND certainly fits the bill. Richard Whitaker's three-year-old followed a win at Thirsk with another comfortable success over this trip at Ripon last time and despite a further 8lb rise in the weights, she looks worth sticking with. The in-form Meandmyshadow ought to run well again, with Pearl Diva and recent Doncaster runner-up Misplaced Fortune also considered.

JAWAAB has really found his form of late and Philip Kiirby's charge is fancied to land the spoils again having impressed when stretching clear to record a comfortable success at Newcastle 10 day ago. The others with previous form don't inspire a great deal of confidence so the two Marcus Tregoning-trained newcomers, Anqooda and Estemaala, who are both smartly bred, are most interesting of the remainder.

DANCHAI looked a bright prospect when finishing second on his Newmarket debut almost a year ago and although his absence since is a slight concern, William Haggas has done really well with his Newmarket raiders here in the past couple of years and it would seem safe to assume the three-year-old will be ready to do himself justice this afternoon. Fly Solo and Claude Monet have both shown enough so far to suggest they will be winning races in due course and they can give the selection most to think about.
