Andrea Atzeni has been snapped up for Focal Eile who is not harshly assessed for his Wolverhampton maiden win back in January. However, this is his first race since and his turf debut, so there are a few questions to answer. KING COLUMBO likes the open spaces here and has reached the frame on all three previous visits, latterly running fourth to Jo'burg in an amateur riders' event over 1m2f. This shorter trip probably suits him better. Lord Theo is beginning to look well handicapped and could attract value hunters, while Aggravation is capable of stepping up on last Monday's Windsor fifth to The Cayterers.

BLACK SNOWFLAKE, a nicely bred son of Elusive Quality, is another eye-catching newcomer and the word is that he is well regarded by Godolphin. Opus Dei shaped with a fair degree of promise on his recent Newcastle debut when a running on third to Refuse To Wait, while Mick Channon always has a strong juvenile platoon and he is represented by newcomer The Human League in the Findlay/Bloom colours.

There is a maxim which says you should follow a filly in form and CWM RHONDDA fits the bill after her brace of 1m2f handicap wins at Yarmouth last month. She was odds-on to beat 15 rivals the last time and duly obliged by the best part of four lengths. The runner-up there was Iceman George who has since won at Newbury, so the form looks solid. Saloon is another running well and he has taken 1m4f handicaps at Goodwood and Kempton this year, but he is more exposed than Peter Chapple-Hyam's filly. Apache Fort shaped well when second to Rotative at Wolverhampton last time, but has won only once on turf.

The progressive LOWTHER is a powerful galloper and he proved his 100-1 maiden win at Yarmouth was no fluke when taking a 7f handicap at Chester afterwards. This more conventional course (strong pace assured) will probably suit him better. Time Machine could not quite collar the front-running Morning Sir Alan over a trip just short of 1m2f at Folkestone, but, on the credit side, the first two pulled clear of the others. A trappy sprint handicap to round things off, but Hi Shinko had the advantage of the best draw when on the mark at Folkestone last time and may find this tougher, especially with the improved BABY QUEEN bidding for her hat-trick after wins at Nottingham and Bath. She is 13lb higher than for the first of those, but started from a low platform and may have more to offer.
