BALLYCOOL has run creditably on two starts since returning from a break and could be ready to strike again anytime soon. Lucinda Russell's eight-year-old is 3lb higher than when successful at Uttoxeter in February so appears fairly treated. Ubaltique pulled up at Exeter last month on his first start since April but is entitled to come on for that outing and could feasibly take a hand. 2lb lower than when winning this contest 12 months ago, Pamak D'airy also merits consideration.

PAMAK d'AIRY showed a good attitude to fend off Trust Thomas when landing this contest under similar conditions last year and the pair are expected to come to the fore again, the first-named given the nod to repeat the dose.

MARLEE MASSIE was eased down in the finish when winning by 25 lengths at Kelso on Sunday and if those exertions haven't taken their toll, he could take plenty of beating now turned out under a penalty. Beyondtemptation faded after the last over 2m1f at Sedgefield last time and needs to draw on deeper reserves of stamina to get home over this longer trip. Distance winner Cruachan, a fair third at Ayr latest, is feared most.

This is a quick turnaround for MARLEE MASSIE after Kelso on Sunday but he relished the very testing ground there and will be hard to beat under a penalty if that hasn't taken too much out of him. Cruachan took a step back in the right direction at Ayr and is fairly treated if he can build on that, while Redkalani is still unexposed over hurdles and has potential off this mark on bumper form.

Duhallowcountry turned in a fair effort when runner-up at Sedgefield last month and is also expected to finish in the shake-up, though preferred ahead of both is chase debutant KIAMA BAY, a Grade 2-placed hurdler that is tackling the larger obstacles for the first time on his seasonal bow.

Wakhan attracted support prior to unseating his rider at the fourth at Catterick earlier in the month and it will be interesting to see if he attracts money once again. Oscar Lateen was similarly strong in the betting last time and also commands respect as he bids to better his Ayr second latest. However, this step up from 2m appears ideal for RUPERT BEAR, who is expected to build on his Newcastle third latest and land the spoils off what appears an attractive chase mark (has won off 17lb higher over hurdles).

Watch out for: Wakhan (6)

OSCAR LATEEN will have no problem handling these testing conditions and can make the most of a good opportunity to make the breakthrough over fences, possibly at the expense of Wakhan, who has yet to fire this term, but is a serious player if back on song. Higgs Boson may fare best of the remainder.
