HYGGE has been placed on both outings in academy hurdles and may have been found a good opportunity to open his account. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding was third behind Minella Yoga (won again since) on testing ground at Fairyhouse and filled the same spot behind stablemate Lynches Knock at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival. On a line through that winner, he should have the beating of Moulin Labbe, who won a French bumper in good style but weakened before the last when switched to hurdles at Naas. Crooked Path has plenty of experience over hurdles and appears effective on varying ground conditions.
French bumper winner MOULIN LABBE ran well for a long way in a much better race on his hurdles debut and is open to plenty of improvement given that was his first start since the autumn. He's closely matched with Hygge on collateral and that rival looks the main danger with the drop back in trip in his favour. The generally consistent Crooked Path is also respected given his experience edge and the fact he's proven himself versatile ground wise.

GALILEO DAME is a smart dual-purpose mare and can gain an overdue win over hurdles. She was placed twice at Listed level on the Flat and beat all bar Hello Neighbour in the Grade 1 juvenile hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival last year. She went close when reverting to timber over 2m4f at Limerick over Christmas and should be suited by this drop back to 2m. Royal Hillsborough has strong form in bumpers and was unfortunate in a Grade 2 at Leopardstown when her rider misjudged the winning post. The Dotski caught the eye staying on late on debut at Fairyhouse and may prove more of a threat than Shadys Lady and Sound Judgement.
ROYAL HILLSBOROUGH proved consistent at higher levels in bumpers and is expected to make a winning debut over hurdles here. She would've won a Listed contest last time had the winner not mistook the winning line but can make amends here. Galileo Dame sets the form standard having placed at the top level last term so looks the obvious danger given her experience edge. Shadys Lady improved under an aggressive ride last time and will also be tough to peg back if ridden similarly down in trip at a stiffer track.

SHOWURAPPRECIATION was absent for nearly two years after winning a Ballinrobe maiden hurdle and has progressed well over fences this season. The Jonathan Sweeney-trained gelding scored in fine style over an extended 2m6f at Punchestown last month and is well treated compared to his revised chase mark of 126. Chosen Diamond won over a similar trip at Fairyhouse last year before finishing second in this race and has dropped down to a competitive mark. Lady Bluebird should benefit from a couple of outings this term and is now fitted with cheekpieces.
Impossible to get away from SHOWURAPPRECIATION here who was an easy winner last time over fences and looks thrown in back in this discipline. The stiff finish will suit down in trip and he can defeat the unexposed Silver Salute who is yet to build on a promising debut but that run has worked out well. He could be leniently treated for his handicap bow and can chase the selection home ahead of Chosen Diamond who was unsuited by the drop to 2m last time but should enjoy this test.

SAN HILARIO has been a model of consistency in handicaps and may open his account reverting to maiden company. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding filled the runner-up spot for the third time this term when beating all bar Powerful over an extended 2m4f at Punchestown. The biggest threat may emerge from bumper winner Hens Tooth, who should benefit from a couple of hurdle outings this term, ahead of the lightly-raced Nopresentliketime.
A strong maiden where consistent but frustrating handicapper San Hilario sets the standard. His latest run is worth marking up as he did best of those forcing the pace so he is strongly respected down in class but it is ROYAL GLADIATOR who is marginally preferred. The form of his bumper run at this venue has been franked in a Listed contest and he shaped with plenty of promise first time out in a strong maiden over the festive period. JACOB'S LADDER will relish testing conditions and is taken to follow up a valuable handicap chase success in Leopardstown at the start of the month. He was notably strong in the closing stages of that contest, drawing five lengths clear, and this is a good trip for him. Lovely Hurling was Grade 1-placed over flights and although he was beaten a fair way into second in two beginners chases, the winners of those races are classy sorts so he should be a contender. Port Joulain made all to score in a beginners chase at Fairyhouse and represents strong connections on this step up in class. Willie Mullins has won three of the last four renewals of this race.
JACOB'S LADDER landed a gamble in a hot handicap last time and should take this step up in class in his stride. He sets a clear standard on ratings and is thriving since he's found his optimum trip. Lovely Hurling's latest runner up effort has been boosted at the top level and though he will ideally want further than this the stiff track should see him on the premises. Last time out winner Port Joulain is another strong stayer at the trip and his hurdles form suggests that this testing surface won't be an issue. He looks the sole other danger.

He was an honourable third at the highest level in Leopardstown and has had almost a month off from those exertions. FOUND A FIFTY should be tough to beat here. The dual Grade 1 winner ran a huge race at the top level at the DRF last time and should find this much easier. He may ideally want slightly shorter than this but he is a dual Grade 2 winner over this distance as well as a course winner at the same level on heavy ground. Both of Better Days Ahead's victories over fences have come at this venue and he ran a huge race over hurdles here on his return from a lay off. The strong stayer likely has some spring targets over marathon trips but if getting a decent test he can chase home the selection. Saint Sam has a bit to find on form but could get an easy lead so can't be ruled out either.

SAVANTE could exploit her lower chase mark. She did very little wrong when runner-up in a valuable handicap hurdle over further in Leopardstown, when collared close home. That form looks strong as she was 15 lengths clear of the third. Sophia Rose gets first-time cheekpieces after a runner-up spot over a longer trip in Punchestown and has winning form over a similar distance from a maiden hurdle in Sligo last summer. Her stablemate Me Wee Bonnie Lass has a 7lb claimer on board to lessen her burden and she is capable of a good run in this company. Femme Magnifique is another in the mix for prize money.
SAVANTE was unlucky not to land a hot handicap over hurdles at the DRF where she was just outstayed late over 3m but can make amends on her chase return. She gets to race off a much lower mark in this discipline where she is unexposed and should be suited by the stiff track dropping back in trip. Sophia Rose has shown a consistent level of form since switching to fences and chased home a progressive rival last time. She looks the main danger with further improvement possible in the first time cheekpieces. Butty O Brien lurks on a dangerous mark at the foot of the weights so isn't ruled out either though she needs to prove she retains her ability after a lay off.
