JE SUIS CHARLIE faced a very stiff task on his hurdling debut in a Grade 2 event at Doncaster but he was not disgraced when finishing third on that occasion. This is obviously a lot weaker and he can be expected to open his account over obstacles this afternoon. Jamacho is likely to be the main threat but it would be a surprise if he were to beat the selection, while Uptown Funk is another Flat recruit to note.
The manner in which JE SUIS CHARLIE travelled in a Grade 2 at Doncaster on his recent hurdles debut suggests this sharp 2m will be right up his street and he's expected to be hard to beat. Jamacho showed a clear aptitude for hurdling in the autumn and could be the one to follow him home ahead of Uptown Funk.

CRESSWELL LEGEND is a progressive six-year-old who makes his handicap debut off what should be a workable mark based on two wins at Ludlow earlier in the season. Stamp Your Feet also merits a place on the shortlist following his Hereford success last month and a 4lb rise in the ratings appears to be lenient. Ahead of The Curve is another in with a decent shout, while Mirsaale cannot be discounted.
There were positives aplenty to draw from VOLCANIC's comeback effort at Kempton and, likely to be sharper now and still 2 lb below his last winning mark, the 9-y-o looks poised to strike for the in-form Donald McCain yard. Mirsaale is capable of a bold show but Stamp Your Feet, who looked better than ever when scoring at Hereford, and the unexposed Cresswell Legend rate the main dangers.

UPSILON BLEU ran really well when finishing fifth in a valuable race at Ascot last time and he makes plenty of appeal on that form, as well as his previous runner-up finish at Ayr. He should mount a bold bid despite the burden of top weight but could have a fair bit to fear from Max Ward, who didn't shape without promise on his seasonal reappearance but should be much sharper this time around. Knockgraffon hasn't been with Olly Murphy long and could still have more to offer.

Nick Alexander's BENNY'S SECRET appears to be still ahead of the handicapper and he can defy a further 8lb rise to land the hat-trick here for his Kinneston handler. He has impressed in his two Kelso triumphs and should be hard to beat here if proving just as effective at this flatter venue. Mister Showman has been in fine form on the all-weather of late and has some smart hurdles form from when he was with Dan Skelton, while Craig Star was second at Carlisle last time and can't be dismissed for the in-form Donald McCain team.
It could be worth chancing CASTLETOWN, who was disappointing over fences last time but had previously run well on a couple of occasions in handicap hurdles to be placed. He could bounce back. Benny's Secret and Craig Star are both in top form and have to be respected, though a big run could also be forthcoming from Titus Bolt.

SMILING JESSICA was perhaps booked in for another placed effort when falling two out, but Rebecca Menzies' mare could be capable of landing the spoils off a tumbling chase mark. Her best performance over fences has come at Southwell which gives hope that today's speedy circuit could play to her strengths and a big run could be on the cards. It may be notable that Brian Hughes has chosen Robins Legend for Billingham handler Chris Grant, while Misfits could be Scotland's best chance of keeping this prize on home soil.
