MUTAHADDITH made all over C&D earlier this month and was a respectable fifth at Jebel Ali 8 days ago. More is needed off this mark, but this is an ordinary race and he looks most at home on this track. A few of these don't convince, but Padlock is an obvious player after finishing runner-up on his last 3 starts, while the formerly smart Tamaathul cannot be ignored off a career-low mark.
TOBACO looks a winner in waiting, doing well to chase home the potentially smart Blue Creek (running 1:10) here last time That was over 1m, but he won a 5f trial here back in October and the drop back to sprint trips shouldn't prevent him from getting off the mark. Ajwad showed ability at Jebel Ali last week and is next best, while Just Pretend looks the pick of the newcomers.
This is all about BLUE CREEK, the first foal of Godolphin's multiple Classic winner Blue Bunting who looked potentially very smart when making a winning debut in a C&D maiden by 5 lengths earlier this month. He's been found an ideal opportunity to follow up, especially as he gets a sizeable weight-for-age allowance. Conquerant, Entifaadha and Marching Time can fight it out for the minor money.
GRAND ARGENTIER won twice on turf in France and has progressed on each start for this yard, shaping well when third on dirt here 9 days ago (travelled strongly after making the running). He's taken to get off the mark here, possibly at the expense of stablemate Alkawn (formerly with John Gosden), who looks to have the most potential of these. Elsewhere, Torchlighter is interesting back on turf.
BAROOT is certainly going the right way now, improving to win what was admittedly a weak maiden here last time. He remains unexposed over these trips and he's arguably been let off lightly by the handicapper. The in-form trio of Brabbham, Mizbah and Nathr are well respected, but the main threat may come from Enery, who was better than the result last time and gets another go over this distance.
GREEB was a useful sprinter for Charlie Hills, but often shaped as if a step up in trip would suit and he gets it here on debut for Doug Watson. He's taken to score despite his wide stall, though it's likely to be one of his stablemates who takes advantage if he doesn't. Charlie Croker won here 2 weeks ago and looks worth a try at 7f, while Almohtaseb is another interesting recruit for the yard.
