FALLING SHADOW made an eye-catching move into contention before tiring late on when third on his UAE debut in the Zabeel Turf two weeks ago. There had been plenty of rain before that race and the soft ground may not have been ideal for this son of Invincible Spirit, especially on the back of a 152-day break. With the benefit of that run and a likely quicker surface, it would be no surprise to see Charlie Appleby's gelding return to winning ways here. Zaman was a place behind the selection on that occasion and had previously put in a promising effort behind a useful rival over a mile in a rated conditions event. Like the selection, the soft ground may have been against Felix last time and he should not be underestimated. None of Blue Trail, Brilliant Light and First View showed their very best on their most recent outings but it would be no surprise to see any of them make the frame in a race of this nature.
Several of these failed to fire in a soft-ground handicap over C&D a fortnight ago, but FALLING SHADOW acquitted himself very well and this lightly-raced 4-y-o looks the one to be with. Better is expected from Brilliant Light with cheekpieces back on, while Count Rostov is interesting on return for a new yard following a year off.

All of these have questions to answer, but Law Of Peace accounted for a decent rival when winning a similar contest over C&D a year ago and put in a promising display on his return in the Firebreak last month. That said, it is a concern that he makes a quick comeback given how hard he raced off the back of a 313-day break on the slop on that occasion. With that in mind, preference is for QUALITY BOONE, who won the Al Bastakiya last season and ended up finishing fifth in the UAE Derby. The four-year-old confirmed his well-being when fourth over C&D a month ago and, while he is at his best over further, he could take some stopping in this company. Street Mood is a tricky individual who has improved this season and should not be discounted, although this requires a significant career best. Quality Humor may be a touch high in the ratings to win at this level but he is more than capable of making the frame.
QUALITY BOONE shaped well on his return/first start for this yard when fourth in a similar event over C&D 4 weeks ago and is on a good mark on the pick of last season's form, notably his fifth in the UAE Derby. Positive Impact and Law of Peace head the dangers.

It is hard to oppose AL DASIM after he readily accounted for most these rivals in the Al Wasl Stakes over C&D last month. The son of Harry Angel had plenty in hand on that occasion and he may still have more improvement to come. Fast-Uno chased home the selection on that occasion and merits respect, but he had a hard race on dirt a couple of weeks ago and that is a concern. The main threat may prove to be Al Khazneh, who was eight lengths behind the selection in the Al Wasl. That said, Saeed bin Suroor's gelding missed the break that day and it was only seven days after his promising effort in the Jumeirah Classic Trial. Off the back of a longer break, it would be no surprise to see him put in an improved effort. Others to consider for the places are Noor Bano and Perdika.
AL DASIM looks a good sprinter in the making and has plenty going for him on these terms after his impressive victory from Fast-Uno 4 weeks ago. Princeville is worth another chance for his top yard, while Perdika, a stablemate of the selection, should be in the hunt for the minor money.

Stall ten has to be a concern for HYPOTHETICAL, but there is a lack of early pace in this field and it would be no surprise to see Mickael Barzalona get him to the front early on. The six-year-old was a Group 1 winner over C&D on Super Saturday last season and he can easily dominate this field, despite top weight, if he doesn't have to use up too much energy early on. Ajuste Fiscal has not been disgraced in competitive events over this track and trip in recent months and he should not be underestimated back in handicap company. Franz Strauss and Withering are closely matched based on their meeting here two weeks ago, but they had tough races that day and the quick turnaround is a worry. Lost Eden could make the frame if transferring his Jebel Ali form to Meydan, although his pedigree suggests that is not certain.
WHITE WOLF impressed with his move into contention when just failing on his handicap debut here 2 weeks ago and, with further improvement likely after just 4 career starts, he receives the vote to go one better. Lost Eden is a prolific winner who needs taking seriously back in handicap company, with Withering completing the shortlist.

Lazuli clearly sets the standard having beaten most of these in the Ertijaal a month ago, but being drawn in stall one could leave the son of Dubawi isolated if the field move across to the stands side as usual. Also, the early pace is likely to come from Ponntos in stall 11 and that means a chance can be taken on ACKLAM EXPRESS. Nigel Tinkler's gelding has C&D form figures of 224 and, unlike on some of those occasions, the five-year-old is drawn right next to the pace now. He was drawn in two when fourth to Lazuli last month and he should not be underestimated now. Logo Hunter has joined Bhupat Seemar since his UAE debut and he could make the frame from a decent draw. Man Of Promise was disappointing over 6f last time but cannot be discounted, while Raasel has an each-way chance.
A winner of this race 12 months ago, LAZULI ran up to his very best when seeing off stablemate Man of Promise by 1¼ lengths in a C&D listed event on return 5 weeks ago. He gets the nod to confirm those placings, with Raasel and Acklam Express, who has finished runner-up in this race in each of the last 2 years, completing the shortlist.

Tiger Nation won the trial for this race over 7f last month but he was able to make all from stall one on that occasion and he will have to work harder to get across from the widest stall here. With that in mind, preference is for SHIRL'S BEE, who created a big impression when making a winning debut over C&D in December and he should get an ideal trip from box three. Tall Boy remains a maiden but he was tried in the Grade 2 Los Alamitos Futurity last time and he has to be of some interest for Doug O'Neill.
SHIRL'S BEE looked promising when accounting for some quite useful opposition on his C&D debut in December and gets the nod for the Doug Watson team. Tiger Nation is an obvious threat on the back of his trial win, although his reduced lead late on in that contest raises a few stamina doubts now stepping up to 1m. Tall Boy found some improvement when fourth in a US Grade 2 last time and looks best of the remainder.

Modern News brings some solid European form to the table, but his two previous starts in the UAE have not been his best and he does have some questions to answer. Therefore, preference is for I AM SUPERMAN, who was third in the Zabeel Mile three weeks ago. The drop back in trip should suit this dual Group 2 winner in Australia and he is entitled to improve for that run. Land Of Legends was not far behind the selection on that occasion and is an obvious threat once again, given his lack of a recent run before that race. Danyah was useful for Owen Burrows a couple of years ago and he should appreciate the return to turf following a couple of efforts on dirt.
I AM SUPERMAN had been running well in Group races for Peter & Paul Snowden in Australia prior to his return at this track 3 weeks ago so with that outing sure to have blown away any cobwebs, he's fancied to come out on top and notch a fourth career success for his current handler. Modern News held his form well last season so he rates as an obvious threat, along with Land of Legends and Rodaballo.
