Argaum warrants respect on the back of his workmanlike victory in a similar prize over C&D last month, but NETHER STREAM edges the vote. He was slightly more convincing when scoring in this company at Stratford 47 days ago and that form has been boosted with the runner-up winning since. Mahfal appeared to benefit from the application of both cheekpieces and a tongue-tie when third at Bangor latest and could run well with the same tack used again.
Mahfal isn't the most straightforward by any means, but he undoubtedly has the ability to win a race of this nature if putting his best foot forward and is worth chancing to thwart last-time-out winners Nether Stream and Argaum.

SALOMO barely had to break into a sweat to score on his handicap debut in bottomless conditions at Wincanton last week and, providing tonight's much faster surface isn't an inconvenience, he should be able to defy a 7lb penalty. Sporting Boy looks an obvious danger on the back of his all-the-way Wincanton success, while Millers Reef is certainly no forlorn hope switching from fences to hurdles.
Salomo was an easy winner on his handicap debut at Wincanton last week and should be tough to beat under a penalty. Vivre Libre probably still has more to offer and may pose the biggest threat.

MADE IN TIME held a slight advantage when crashing out four from home at Wincanton last week and, providing that nasty experience hasn't dented his confidence, he could make amends. Amroth Bay has to be respected following his 44-length victory at Stratford in March, but quite what he beat that day is up for question and a 9lb rise in the ratings is sure to make life a lot tougher, so first-time blinkered Fairoak Lad rates the bigger threat.
Ballyvesey has dropped to a good mark and, with his stable having turned the corner of late, he can capitalise in a competitive event. Made In Time is still progressing and has to be feared, while Amroth Bay could be a real threat at the foot of the weights if his jumping holds up.

Double Mead makes plenty of appeal having won three point-to-point contests since her runner-up effort over 3m here in early March, but ISLAND LIFE is marginally preferred. He made it three wins from his last four starts (unseated jockey on the other occasion) when scoring gamely over C&D last time and will prove difficult to beat if in the same mood tonight. Fairwood Present is 4lb worse off for a 2 3/4-length beating that day and looks vulnerable.
Double Mead is proven over C&D and has been making hay in points since a solid second here in March. She's narrowly preferred to Island Life, who has also enjoyed a profitable spring. Sunday City is held by the latter on Hereford running, but would have claims on last summer's form.
