PRAIRIE DANCER won twice on the Flat over 10 furlongs at Roscommon this year and held a career-high rating of 91 in the summer. The Joseph O'Brien-trained gelding had a number of these rivals, including Doctor Brown Bear and Gentleman Joe, behind when runner-up to Ben Siegel on his hurdling debut in a 20-runner maiden at Punchestown last month. He came from off the pace on that occasion and should benefit from the experience. Vera Verto has a similar profile having won a Gowran maiden on the Flat, earning a rating of 81, and went close on her hurdling debut at Cork. Icare Allen was bought by current connections after winning on debut in a 1m4f French bumper, while others to consider include San Aer and The Tide Turns.

HAUT EN COULEURS gets the vote in what appears a classy affair. He won a juvenile hurdle on his only French start and was thrown in the deep end on both subsequent starts for current connections, including when a creditable third to Quilixios in the Triumph Hurdle. He's always been viewed as a type to flourish over fences. Willie Mullins is also represented by Mt Leinster, a smart sort on the level but not quite reaching the same heights over jumps, and Gentleman De Mee, who showed plenty of promise over hurdles last season and wasn't disgraced on his first try over fences at Punchestown. Thedevilscoachman won three times over hurdles last term, including at Listed level, and probably rates the chief threat having stayed on nicely into third behind Ferny Hollow on his chasing debut in the aforementioned Punchestown event.

CHACUN POUR SOI ran too badly to be true in the Tingle Creek and is given another chance to show he's in the top rank of two-mile chasers. The lightly-raced gelding has won five times at Grade 1 level, including a decisive victory over stablemate Allaho at Punchestown last April, but was stiff and sore after a number of uncharacteristic mistakes at Sandown. Envoi Allen held a huge reputation following an unbeaten sequence of 11 wins over three seasons. However, that ended when falling at Cheltenham last March and pulling up lame the following month at Punchestown. He's now dropped in trip after finding no extra in the straight behind Allaho in the John Durkan at Punchestown. Battleoverdoyen is far from consistent and has plenty to find on the book, along with Sizing Pottsie.

LARGY DEBUT raised many eyebrows when lowering the colours of top-class bumper performer and 1/14 favourite Kilcruit when the pair made their hurdling debuts in a maiden at Cork earlier this month. There didn't seem any fluke about the win as he made all and galloped on strongly to score by 10 lengths, and the Shirocco gelding gets the vote to follow up. Mighty Potter landed the odds by a wide margin on his hurdling debut at Down Royal and was probably unsuited by a steady pace when a strong-finishing third in the Grade 1 Royal Bond Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse, with Farout held in fourth. Three Stripe Life and Grangee both showed very useful form in bumpers and justified short-priced favouritism on their latest start when switched to hurdles.

SUPRISE PACKAGE provided connections with a good payday when scoring at the Punchestown Festival last spring and he looks fairly treated dropping back in trip after appearing to run out of stamina over 2m4f at Navan. The selection travelled beautifully into that Grade B handicap but the combination of a mistake at the last and the stiff uphill finish just found him out. Sea Ducor has been very lightly raced since his second to Master McShee in this race 12 months ago, but remains of great interest and is surely well enough handicapped to take a good prize. Fastorslow is another who fits into the 'dark horse' category, while Crowns Major and Cotteemcavennigoal go on the shortlist too.

Alfa Mix has been well backed in the lead up to this valuable and highly-competitive event. The six-year-old looks to have strong claims having finished well when just denied by Fully Charged at Punchestown last month and is now fitted with cheekpieces. EMBASSY GARDENS hails from a family that Willie Mullins knows well as the Shantou gelding, who cost 110,000 euros at the Derby Sale in Fairyhouse as a three-year-old, is out of the Network mare Adriana Des Mottes, who won a Grade 1 for the Closutton maestro. The yard is bidding to land this race for the fourth time in six years. Santonito made a bright start when runner-up to the Mullins-trained The Nice Guy at Fairyhouse last month and could be suited by the extra half-mile, while Susans Sensation kept on into fourth on debut over this trip at Listowel. Any Biscuits and the Mags Mullins-trained pair Kiki Badger and Half Grand are others to note in the market.
