BEAU ET SUBLIME built on the promise he displayed on his debut when chasing home a subsequent Listed winner in fourth last month. He can improve for the switch to hurdles, although Alvisio Ville is clearly a rival to be wary of as he wasn't beaten by far in a Fontainebleau bumper last year and represents leading connections. Ordinary World shaped with plenty of promise on his introduction and is entitled to improve for that experience here.

Watch out for: Alvisio Ville (2)

Ordinary World sets a pretty useful standard on the form he showed when chasing home a couple of promising sorts on his Navan debut a month ago and is probably the one to beat unless the market speaks strongly in the favour of the Willie Mullins French recruit Alvisio Ville. Noel Meade's Aengus won a bumper at the second attempt at Fairyhouse last month and also makes the shortlist.

JOSHUA LANE signed off last term with a hugely encouraging third in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival so he could prove very tough to beat if fully wound up for this hurdling bow. He must concede match-fitness to Velvet Maker, who was far too keen when second on his return from a lengthy absence at Down Royal but is entitled to improve for that outing and the application of a hood. Uncle Danny was third in a hot race at Naas on his return and looks the pick of the remainder.

KALKIR got the better of no fewer than seven of these rivals when winning by eight lengths at Fairyhouse and is more than capable of successfully conceding weight to this field on that evidence. The second on that occasion Dai Bando reopposes on better terms and might get closer, but perhaps Thunder Zone is a bigger danger as he made a winning start to life over hurdles last week and can improve for that experience for in-form connections.

SPACIOUS SKY hasn't been sighted over hurdles since finishing fifth at the Galway Festival, but his form in competitive staying handicaps on the Flat reads particularly well and he looks ominously poised at the foot of the weights. Miradane had Marshim (fifth) in arrears when bouncing back to winning ways at Cork and a 7lb higher mark could still leave him room for manoeuvre on that evidence. Bank Bonus was backed into favouritism at Limerick but trailed a subsequent winner in fourth and might not be one to give up on just yet.

WAY UP IN THE AIR ran well for a long way at Fairyhouse before weakening late on and is entitled to strip fitter for that first outing since May. The sixth on that occasion Treat Yourself is a C&D winner and might find improvement from cheekpieces so he isn't discounted either. Empresario looks ominously poised towards the foot of the weights on his handicap debut and a couple of sighters on the all-weather ought to have blown the cobwebs away, while stablemates Enjoy Responsibly and Never Complain deserve close market inspection.

Pires does need to shrug off a disappointing effort last time, but is back to a winning mark and might be worth siding with in an open affair. Empresario was runner-up in a couple of maiden chases in the autumn and is interesting now handicapping for the first time in this sphere on the back of a good run on the Flat. Sitcom completes the shortlist.

All eyes will be on VAUTOUR, who took the switch to chasing in his stride with a foot-perfect effort at Navan last month. The Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner at the Cheltenham Festival before scoring at the Punchestown Festival, Willie Mullins' charge is already at the head of the betting for the Arkle and is very tough to oppose. Chancol has yet to taste to defeat over fences and arrives fresh from success in Grade 2 company so he might be best placed to capitalise on any mishaps from the selection. Clarcam completes the shortlist.

Vautour could hardly have been more impressive when accounting for the reopposing Clarcam on his Navan chasing debut and can add a Grade 1 novice chase win to his 3 victories over hurdles at this level last season. Clarcam might be the one to follow him home again, though Chancol and Real Steel are also open to improvement.
