Just two of the declared seven have previous form to their name and of them, Mick Channon's Musselburgh fourth Scargill makes more appeal than Smugglers Gold, who is visored for the first time after failing to beat a rival home on debut at Lingfield. However, it may be worth taking both on with a newcomer. Mark Johnston's Peterkin should know his job first time out but marginal preference is for Richard Hannon's BEAU NASH, a Dandy Man colt that is a half-brother to a spate of winners.

Watch out for: Scargill (5)

The market is likely to prove informative but Peterkin very much catches the eye on pedigree and gets the vote ahead of fellow newcomers Beau Nash and Posh Bounty.

La Sylphe dropped into a Wolverhampton seller to regain the winning thread last month but may be worth taking on with DOUGLAS PASHA, who is 4lb higher than when scoring at Wolverhampton two weeks ago but is open to significant improvement on what is only his second start over this distance. Desert Donkey makes most appeal of the remainder, though he was well-held off this mark at Lingfield latest and looks to be vying for another supporting role today.

EL MANATI sets a clear form standard based on her Group 3 third behind Bungle Inthejungle over 5f at Ascot last term. James Tate has secured the services of Ryan Moore for the ride and, on these terms, the daughter of Iffraaj is expected to improve for this extra furlong and double her C&D tally (broke her duck here last August). Zanetto signed off last season with a creditable second in a competitive Newmarket sales race and looks the main danger ahead of Jillnextdoor, whose best effort last term was a fifth-placed effort in the Cheveley Park Stakes.

Watch out for: Zanetto (3)

El Manati ended her first season on the up, and sets a clear standard here on her return, with the promise of more to come. Jillnextdoor looks the most solid one for the forecast.

HAFTOHAF suffered an agonising defeat when headed on the line over this trip at Wolverhampton in February but a 2lb rise is unlikely to prevent him gaining compensation if running to a similar level of form on turf. Music In The Rain shaped likely he'd come on appreciably for the outing when fifth at Doncaster on his seasonal bow and there should be more to come from the ex-Jim Bolger inmate on his second start for David O'Meara. Magic City has dropped to a fair mark these days and merits a market check now back from a break.

AZELLE appears to have been found a fantastic opportunity to open her account. She signed off last year with a solid third-placed finish in much stronger company at Newbury (sixth and seventh have won since) and any improvement brought about by the winter break would make her difficult to beat here. With the other experienced runners not showing a great deal, it could be up to one of the newcomers, Azenzar or Bill Of Rights, to ask most questions.

Watch out for: Azenzar (2)

Azelle has the edge in terms of experience, and may well improve again, so looks a solid option, although Roger Varian's newcomer Azenzar makes plenty of appeal on paper and merits a market check. Bill of Rights is another debutante to keep an eye on.
