LUCKY TENNER ran his best race over flights when runner-up in Wexford after being stepped up to two and a half miles. This former bumper winner has never been out of the first three, and the form of that Wexford race got a boost when the third home was a wide-margin winner of a maiden hurdle in Downpatrick on Friday. The 118-rated Buck's Billionaire has been placed twice in his five maiden hurdles. He sets the standard but has been finding it hard to get his head in front in bumpers and hurdle races. Mars Harper easily won a Ballinrobe bumper last summer and has to be respected. Dixie Flyer landed a Down Royal bumper for Stuart Crawford and has now switched to Henry de Bromhead. He is worth a market check. Part Time Farmer and Edison Kent are others with more than decent claims.

DARVER STAR is hard to oppose at these weights but you wouldn't call him bomb-proof. He has finished out the back in his last three races but they were all at Grade One level, and it is reasonable to assume that he can enjoy himself in this company. He switched back to hurdling in Punchestown to contest the Grade One Champion Hurdle but could make no impression as a 100/1 chance behind the imperious Honeysuckle. The peak of his novice chasing career came when runner-up in a Grade One novice chase at Leopardstown over Christmas. If the former Champion Hurdle third runs anywhere near his hurdle mark of 155, he should oblige. Scarpeta is next best on ratings (145), so has a good shot at prize money. Chosen Mate reverts back to hurdles and has ability in this sphere. Darasso and Snow Falcon would welcome rain.

It was no surprise to see DARVER STAR struggle back in this sphere recently, in what was a strong renewal of the Punchestown Champion Hurdle won by the redoubtable Honeysuckle. His rivals here, talented though they are, all have something to prove for one reason or another and Gavin Cromwell's stable star should prove very hard to beat. Scarpeta and Darasso can fill the places.

MERRY DOYENNE failed by a neck to land a gamble in Punchestown and could pick up compensation. That mares' maiden hurdle was over a similar trip to this staying test and three subsequent winners have come out of it. Lunar Display ran a creditable race for third at 66/1 in a good mares' novice hurdle at Navan in February. She holds a rating of 121 and is a significant threat. Eyre Square won a mares' bumper at Wexford in March before filling the runner-up berth on hurdling debut at Limerick last month. She can go well up in trip. Sweet Street is another for the shortlist.

Bumper winner EYRE SQUARE made a promising start over hurdles when runner-up at Limerick 3 weeks ago and is selected to go one better now. WILLIAM OF WYKEHAM was an improver over hurdles last summer and his course and distance second to Decor Irlandais looks good form in view of that horse's fine fourth to Thyme Hill in a Grade One at Aintree. The selection, fit from the Flat, could be still be on a winnable mark. Anything Will Do has run with some credit in several staying handicaps at high-profile meetings, is dropping in the ratings and has a good claimer on board. Snugsborough Hall was a good fourth in the Topham and is interesting back over hurdles, while local hope Jammy George has found a bit of form again and could get a share of the prize money.

This looks very open indeed and BEN DUNDEE is taken to strike off a tempting hurdles mark. Having shaped well on return at Naas following a 12-month absence in March, he found 3m too stiff a test in a big-field Punchestown handicap last time and this intermediate trip could be just the ticket. Max Flamingo, fourth in that Punchestown race, merits respect and William of Wykeham is also shortlisted.

There probably hasn't been a jumps race of this quality and depth at Killarney in many a year. UNEXCEPTED is the least experienced chaser in the line-up but went through a recent handicap at Punchestown like a smart horse before fading late. He'll hopefully be better for the run and gets all the allowances albeit his stamina is unproven. His stablemates Cilaos Emery and Easy Game are classy types who could win this if at their best and this trip seems ideal for the latter. Last year's winner Peregrine Run faces a much stiffer task but his recent hurdles run after a lay-off will have delighted his connections. The jury is out on Samcro at the moment but his very presence adds further lustre to the race.

SAMCRO is taken to get back on track. Last season was a write-off and all clearly wasn't right with him in the Ryanair, but he's a dual Cheltenham Festival winner taking a big drop in grade here and looks worth chancing. This is a deeper renewal than the races Peregrine Run has won for the last 2 years but he's impossible to ignore after a fine run at Punchestown. Cilaos Emery is also respected.

Four in here for J.P. McManus and it's interesting to see blinkers re-applied to SHADY OPERATOR. He had some good handicap form in headgear a couple of years ago and Enda Bolger, who also has former winner Auvergnat in here, is always to be feared at this venue. Like the selection, topweight Uisce Beatha was formerly with Joseph O'Brien and he's two from four for Padraig Roche. He had Punchestown winner Rapid Response back in third when winning last time and stays well, although he did disappoint in this race two years ago. Three Musketeers is good fresh and was pipped by Irish National winner Freewheelin Dylan at Kilbeggan last summer, while Waitnsee won a Grade Three on her penultimate start and is a tough sort who may improve further for the extra distance.

Watch out for: Uisce Beatha (1)

The vote goes to FAG AN BEALACH, who was well on top at the finish when resuming winnings ways at Downpatrick in March. She wasn't seen to best effect at Punchestown recently and the booking of Rachael Blackmore adds to her appeal. Shady Operator, a faller in the Downpatrick race won by the selection, will be a threat granted a clear round, while Speak Easy and Space Cadet are others to consider.

The oldest horse in the line-up, WARRIORS TALE, is taken to come out on top. He was very good at Cork in first-time cheekpieces and with those aids applied again, the son of Midnight Legend is expected to enjoy going up to 2m7f. He won the Grand Sefton at Aintree in 2018 and was a very useful performer on his day, with hopefully more in the locker yet. Maxine O'Sullivan's claim is helpful as well, and the 12-year-old is preferred to Rewritetherules, Some Man and Staker Wallace. The last-named finished in front of Warriors Tale in a Dromahane open in November, and the Cheltenham and Punchestown bronze medallist is very much respected.

STAKER WALLACE stands out on form and arrives on the back of an excellent third at the Punchestown festival, so he takes preference over Some Man, who travelled as if still in form at Aintree last time. Rewritetherules isn't completely out of it, either.
