OCEANE clearly has tons of ability, as he was third behind St Leger winner Simple Verse and Melrose scorer Polarisation on the Flat at Salisbury in June, and he looked a natural when making his hurdling debut at Fontwell, jumping for fun and streaking clear in the closing stages. He is one of the most exciting juveniles around at this early stage of the season and will be strongly fancied to score for the stable who have won this race in four of the last seven seasons. Big McIntosh is the obvious danger following his 10-length Huntingdon success, while Vocaliser makes most appeal of the Flat recruits.

OCEANE looks one to follow in early-season juvenile events and is expected to prove a very tough nut to crack. Big McIntosh won an ordinary race at Huntingdon a couple of weeks ago and it could be that the one to give Alan King's charge most to do is Goldslinger, who has been highly progressive on the Flat of late.

Everything points to a massive run from LORD LIR. While most of this field have been struggling to find any sort of form recently, Tim Vaughan's charge arrives fresh from victories at Cartmel and Worcester, and he receives 3lb and upwards off each of these rivals, with top jockey Richard Johnson booked to ride. Yabadabadoo is entitled to improve for his comeback fourth at Huntingdon and has a squeak off this 2lb lower mark, while chasing debutant Under The Phone is a course winner over timber and could prove best of the remainder.

Group 3 Flat winner Maputo has taken to hurdles like a duck to water, and he warrants plenty of respect in his bid to complete the four-timer, but preference is for the returning MIDNIGHT SHOT. He was a promising bumper performer, but found an extra gear when switched to this sphere earlier in the year, emphatically notching a double at Uttoxeter and Southwell. Returning from a 151-day absence isn't too much of a concern as he has run well fresh in the past, and he could prove difficult to beat for a trainer/jockey combination who boost an impressive 41% strike-rate when teaming up so far this season. Listed-placed Swansea Mile and Stratford scorer San Benedeto add further spice to the race.

Koultas King has been knocking on the door both in this sphere and over hurdles, and he looks sure to be in the shake-up again, but BALINROAB edges the vote. He lost little in defeat when three-parts of a length second at Stratford last time and a 2lb rise probably won't be enough to anchor him if arriving in the same mood, as he has won off this mark of 111 in the past. Fond Memory is having his sights lowered and could bounce back to form at a course he likes.

It is impossible to oppose THE NEW ONE in his search for a hat-trick of wins in this race. His only defeats in the last two seasons have come in two Champion Hurdles and a Christmas Hurdle, and he has between 24lb and 48lb in hand against these rivals and yet he only has to give a fraction of that away. Stephanie Frances looks the obvious one for the forecast following a decent enough effort in the Galway Hurdle last time, while Rayvin Black looks the pick of the rest.

Useful French recruit Cernunnos did not live up to expectations when beaten a long way in fourth on his UK debut at Newbury in March. Still only a five-year-old, he's clearly better than that and there should be more to come from him. WALDEN PRINCE has been thoroughly progressive since joining the David Bridgwater yard, as he's picked up four wins from his six starts for the trainer, and there was no indication in his win last time that he was finished improving. Cody Wyoming and Gores Island look the pick of the rest.

CERNUNNOS was a winner over fences in France, and shaped better than the margin beaten suggests on British debut at Newton Abbot in March, looking potentially well handicapped for a long way, so he is chanced to make a winning return.
