ADELAR was last seen finishing down the field in the Prix Dollar at Longchamp in October but he's a fascinating contender on his hurdling debut for the Venetia Williams yard this afternoon. The German-bred gelding boasts some solid Flat form on the Continent and could outclass these rivals if making a smooth transition to obstacles. Wade Farm Billy, Spent and fellow National Hunt newcomer General Eliott look the likely dangers.
Wade Farm Billy should give his usual good account, but he hardly sets an exacting standard for the hurdling newcomers and may be worth taking on. Captain Chris looks an ideal type for jumping and he is taken to build on his promising bumper debut. Useful Flat performers Adelar and General Eliott are also worth serious consideration.

SECRET STASH has gone close in a couple of maiden hurdles since the turn of the year and looks sure to relish this step up in distance. Alison Thorpe's charge won a bumper at Chepstow on heavy ground last January, suggesting stamina is very much his forte. Love Of Tara arguably sets the standard on form having gone close off a mark of 125 in a 3m handicap at Kempton over Christmas, while Benartic opened his jumps account at the first attempt last month and is another to consider.
Love of Tara will be a tough nut to crack if reproducing her handicap form from last time, but a 10-week break since and the drying ground give the rest hope she might not be at her very best. Secret Stash has been crying out for this longer trip when second the last twice and rates a value alternative, ahead of the penalised Benartic.

This isn't going to take much winning and it might be worth chancing AJZAL. The six-year-old has failed to make an impact in four chase starts but he won a maiden hurdle on his first start for Tom George last March and has now been given a serious chance by the handicapper. Raki Rose is not easily ruled out but Caspar Of Tarsus was all out to score at Hereford last month and might be worth opposing off a 9lb higher mark this afternoon.
A big field but very few come into this in much form. Maori Legend was a bit disappointing at Ludlow but had shaped well the time before and deserves another chance with cheekpieces on for the first time. Noble Future is sure to go well if his stamina holds out, while Laudamus might come on for last month's reappearance.

Pere Blanc shaped with promise in a Taunton bumper last month and might not have to step up too much on that to go close. HATTA STREAM shaped encouragingly on his debut and is sure to improve for that experience so he gets the call. Robin De Creuse will be of considerable interest if there is market confidence behind him.
