The 140,000 pound purchase Go Conquer made light work of a Carlisle bumper in April and can continue his progression with success on his hurdling bow. His beaten rivals haven't done a great deal for the form since, though, and a 243-day absence is off-putting, so perhaps SILVERY MOON is worth a try. Rated 88 on the Flat, the son of Verglas made a decent start to life over hurdles when fourth at Doncaster and can improve for that experience and score here. Doktor Glaz landed a bumper at this track in May and also ran respectably over timber at Newcastle so he deserves a market check.

Watch out for: Go Conquer (7)

There's more to come over hurdles from Silvery Moon and Doktor Glaz who both made promising starts last month, but Go Conquer made a good impression when winning a Carlisle bumper in April and providing his jumping has improved from his pointing days he can make a successful return.

I NEED GOLD confirmed the promise of his victory between the flags when hacking up on his first look at regulation fences and is backed to follow up that C&D success under a 5lb penalty. Oscar Rock didn't quite live up to his billing as novice hurdler but has the scope to improve for the switch to the bigger obstacles in cheekpieces. Wakanda wasn't disgraced at Doncaster and his yard have a hit a purple patch, while the Irish raider Man With Van can strip fitter for a hurdles sighter at Navan.

Plenty of potential on show with the highly-promising I Need Gold taken to make it 2 from 2 in this sphere with the form of his runaway success on his reappearance here having worked out. The selection had Orchard Road (sixth) in arrears when finishing third at Musselburgh, but that rival scored by six lengths at Sedgefield last time and might be worth considering. Star Date might have more to come on just his second start for this handler but has an absence to overcome, likewise for the progressive Teo Vivo who was runner-up at this track in May. That duo concede match fitness to Spot The Pro, who was far from disgraced at Wetherby and might be worth closer market inspection.

It might be worth plumping for the former point winner VIRTUEL D'OUDON on just his second try over regulation fences as he shaped with promise at Exeter and looks potentially unexposed in first-time blinkers. It is easy to make a case for Union Jack D'ycy, though, as he made light work of four-runner event at Towcester and has placed over 3m5f in the past. Isla Pearl Fisher wasn't stopping when he scored at this track recently and the 11-year-old might have a bit to offer over this kind of trip. Sun Cloud has stamina in abundance and is respected, along with last year's second Scotswell who is 4lb lower 12 months on.

Union Jack d'Ycy looks a likely type for these sort of races and could be the way to go after impressing at Towcester. It's interesting that David Pipe pitches Virtuel d'Oudon straight into one of these marathon handicaps on just his second go over fences and he needs monitoring in first-time blinkers, while Sun Cloud, Isla Pearl Fisher, and last year's second Scotswell are all respected also.

SHOTAVODKA faces a mammoth task conceding a stone and more to his rivals, but he landed a competitive event at Haydock from a 2lb higher mark in May and has been highly tried since, so a slight dip in class can do his chances plenty of good. Glenquest has turned a corner since joining his new yard and a victory at Navan over hurdles could be the perfect preparation for this. Always Right won this race from a mark of 140 in 2011 and hinted that he can be competitive from this kind of rating when beaten by a short head at Ayr in October.

2011 winner Always Right seems sure to go well seeking a fifth course success, while Shotavodka could prove a class apart despite giving his rivals a stone and more, but Glenquest has positively thrived since joining Stuart Crawford and can follow up his victory in a big-field Navan handicap hurdle back chasing now.

ARDNAHOE couldn't land a blow when she was pitched into Listed company at Newbury last time but had scored well at Ayr prior to that and can resume a winning thread here. The selection had Lucky Buttons in arrears (fifth) when she scored, but the suspicion is that the second-named horse will get closer now encountering some extra yardage. Gold Chain is largely consistent and deserves a spot on the shortlist.

Ardnahoe is respected in a first-time tongue tie dropped back in class with this stiffer test set to suit, but Syddan Rose promised plenty for a long way on her hurdles bow at Newcastle last month and could give her in-form yard a third win in this novice hurdle in the last 4 seasons. Gold Chain sets the standard and is also expected to figure.
