SAINT JOHN HENRY made pretty heavy weather of his initial hurdling success at Plumpton but that was only his fourth career start and he's one of the few here with the scope for further improvement. He looks on a fair mark, will handle conditions and is taken to follow up. Rendezvous Peak would have needed his reappearance run at Towcester last month, looks the sort to progress with his racing and represents the main threat. Phare Isle is respected off top weight, with recent winner Yasir and Russie With Love others to note.

Watch out for: Rendezvous Peak (7)

Saint John Henry is the obvious starting point having improved when striking on his handicap debut at Plumpton. He's likely to be plenty short enough in the betting, though, and it's worth taking him on with Parting Way. Tim Vaughan's charge also took a step forward when pitched into a handicap for the first time at Taunton last month, and this former point winner should relish this stiffer test.

Mickie was far from disgraced when a 20l third behind Shutthefrontdoor at Carlisle on her chasing debut and should come on a bundle for the run. She looks a surefire winner of a novices chase but may just find HIGHLAND RETREAT too good. Harry Fry's charge was only reeled in very late on at Exeter last time when displaying a tendency to jump significantly left. Hopefully, that has been corrected and this classy hurdler is taken to land a first success over the larger obstacles. Mrs Peachey looks best for the minor money.

Watch out for: Mickie (4)

Harry Fry has his string in fine form at present and Highland Retreat, who stepped up on her disappointing debut effort in this sphere when second at Exeter last time, looks the one to beat. However, the vote goes to Mickie, who is closely matched with Highland Retreat based on hurdles form and she should be all the better for last month's reappearance at Carlisle where she jumped proficiently.

Presenting Arms has impressed with the manner of both successes this term on contrasting ground and should make a good fist of landing his hat-trick despite a 15lb rise for those two wins, both achieved under today's conditional pilot. However, AUTHORSHIP has taken to hurdling in exemplary fashion, including when scoring over C&D on his hurdling bow. He may just have too much Flat speed for the top weight and the rest of a useful field. Cloonacool is on the upgrade and is respected along with Favorite Girl, a convincing winner here last time and a danger to all off bottom weight.

A classy renewal in which WONDERFUL CHARM can oblige over his ideal trip with conditions to suit. Paul Nicholls' inmate opened the campaign with a comfortable success over Colour Squadron at Newton Abbot before failing to deal with Don Cossack at Down Royal. However, there was no disgrace with that run as the winner looks an improved sort this term and he is taken to resume winning ways. Eduard has been astutely campaigned by Nicky Richards and is highly respected on the back of his second to Many Clouds at Carlisle, whilst Wishfull Thinking retains form wonderfully well and can never be discounted.

Aqalim is an interesting recruit to hurdling and must be respected for the John Ferguson team, but it's far too soon to be giving up on BIRCH HILL. The selection was a well-backed favourite in the Listed Cheltenham bumper won by Definitly Red but was rather disappointing. He's surely better than that and is well worth another chance tackling hurdles for the first time. Stable companion Brigadier Miller returns to action for the first time since January 2012 and should be noted in the market, although Jebril and Hannah's Princess make more appeal on this occasion and are shortlisted.

Top Tip: Birch Hill (6)
Watch out for: Aqalim (4)

Birch Hill was all the rage on debut for Nicky Henderson in a good bumper at Cheltenham last time and he shaped with promise despite only finishing fifth. He still remains a top prospect and is taken to make a winning start over hurdles. Jebril has done very well over timber so far and is respected despite giving weight away all round, while Hannah's Princess is another who shouldn't be far away.

OUT OF THE MIST created a good impression when quickening up decisively to put a large Doncaster bumper field to the sword. She faces similar ground conditions and is just given the nod over the unbeaten Lifeboat Mona, who represents the champion trainer. Trigger Point looks the sort to improve along with Madame Trigger and Caitys Joy, the latter almost certainly better than her recent Cheltenham run. Nicky Henderson has no peers in these contests and the fact he pitches Robins Reef into Listed company on her debut is surely significant. She's one to watch in a classy bumper.
