BELL WEIR turned in his best effort yet when only finding one too strong over 2m4f here last week and he looks to be coming nicely to the boil now. The return to this longer distance seems sure to suit, given the way he stayed on last time, and it is worth noting he was a winner at this venue back in the summer. The latter has been knocking on the door and only found one too good on each of his last two starts, but he is still searching for his opening success after six attempts and preference is for Donald McCain's charge. LUCCOMBE DOWN has been narrowly touched off on both starts to date and looks worth another chance today, with John Quinn's charge getting 7lb from Musselburgh winner Coozan George.
