Verdict

An incredible racemeeting - it may not be Vodacom Durban July day but it almost is in a sense - have a full go - this is what horseracing fans dream about! Much more to come later on but the first race is looking a strong drawcard with CANDYMAN, highly regarded NAVAL SECRET and improving GARRULOUS set to attract big market support. CANDYMAN has been costly to follow but he has the age factor and the draw. NAVAL SECRET is just about royalty on pedigree. GARRULOUS caught the eye in both showings.

Verdict

The mighty AFRICAN WARRIOR was not ready last time but must have desperately needed that run. He is back at his favourite haunt (has won four out of four at Greyville) and could be ready now. His stallion Vercingetorix has been doing very well of late. RIO QUERARI could be the one with plenty to come after gelding. He has always shown way above average ability. BINOCHE finds herself equally well in and could now prefer the trip. Most of these are good enough to get into the fight.

Verdict

All of CARALLUMA, JASMINE and TRICKSTER impressed in their maiden wins. However CARALLUMA and JASMINE were making their debuts and moreso now have decent draws. CARALLUMA has run round the bend and could take full advantage. JASMINE must relish the trip on pedigree and looks certain to come on. Verdict

First leg of the Pick on a monumental day. FAST LOVE was impressive on debut and had older runners well behind him. He could be anything but is switching from poly and jumps from a wide barrier. MASTER OF DISGUISE has been eating up anything given to him over this kind of distance and from draw two could be hard to chase down. He will need to take to the track as well. WALLS OF DUBROVNIK can't be faulted and can turn it on in style. Many with potential - follow the betting.

Verdict

GABOR is back and straight into a Grade 2 race with a top class field to take her on. Hopefully she will take up from where she left off. But the horse to beat at the weights is TEMPLE GRAFIN who has also had a splendid prep coming into the race over a trip too short. A race to savour and it doesn't end there. Clash of the Giants! Some of South Africa's legendary racehorses run here and the Vodacom Durban July winner may rise up from this. VARDY has been dominating RAINBOW BRIDGE, DO IT AGAIN and even One World over this trip. He had excuses on local debut. But DO IT AGAIN is a very different horse at Greyville and there might be great duel to the wire. RAINBOW BRIDGE is not one to take lightly - he almost bagged his 2nd Met last time and had brilliant runners behind him in that. TWIST OF FATE, CLOUDS UNFOLD and CIRILLO make it very interesting.

Verdict

The two unbeaten fillies SUMMER PUDDING and LADY OF STEEL have been given great draws here - this is a great race in the making. SUMMER PUDDING may be seven without a loss and heading for superstardom if she doesn't mind the drop in trip and long season. LADY OF STEEL will have the legs especially after roasting the boys last time (including Grade 1 champ Eden Roc who won since) and she runs like she will enjoy it longer. However KELPIE is top on ratings - she could show her best after needing it. More with potential as well.

Verdict

GURU'S PRIDE was a respectable 1,80 lengths behind the winner in the Guineas and that run alone entitles him to huge respect. If the Guineas form stands up in the Grade 1 in the race prior then even moreso. AFRICAN SUNRISE could get closer after earlier coming up short behind GURU'S PRIDE. He is not giving away weight to that one today. If VIKRAM doesn't need it he will be a strong runner if his Cape form is anything to go by. PEARL OF ASIA could be looking for the trip - watch him.
