Verdict

GORGEOUS BOMB showed she is effective over 1200m when beaten less than a length and can open her account with a repeat. QUINCY TOWN ran a much-improved race after a rest and needs to be respected as he has been given gate No 1 again and could take advantage. XIPHOS finished well ahead of QUINCY TOWN but has more of a task at the weights and has been a bit disappointing. But he has the ability needed to win a race like this. LEVITATOR and SUSURRANDO both have run well enough to be right there at the business end.

Verdict

BERRINGTON BLEW has run twice on the Poly and has had excuses. She needed her last run and could be more comfortable this time and is the horse to beat on merit ratings. MALSHANA MOU was only just beaten in her second start on the surface. The form line has worked out well and she could go on to open her account. SUN IN MY POCKET could score on any of her best runs. She is quick but needs to keep something for the finish. WINTER BLESSING has been kept away from the Poly until now. She too has the ability to run well in this type of race. Verdict

GREEN GLOW is bidding to make it three wins on the bounce even if dropping in distance. He has obvious ability and won despite misbehaving last time. Poly specialist EVENTIDOR showed something like his best form winning well but is also dropping in trip. RUN TO RIO could finally score over the course and distance. He finished ahead of EVENTIDOR the last time they met and has drawn well. TOWN CRIER wasn't disgraced on his Poly debut and is open to improvement. SAIL TO THE MOON relished racing on the Polytrack for the first time, scoring a fluent win. He must have a chance of following up but he has more of a task this time. Both GORGEOUS DUDE and MAC HARDY have fair form on the surface and come in with light weights. There should not be much between the two on form. WINTER WAVES is knocking at the door for win number No 9 and it looks the race where he may get the pace he needs. Trainer Corne Spies brings CIRCLE OF GRACE and ZOOMBOMBER from the Highveld. Verdict

There wasn't much to choose between ONE PATH and SHE'S A MACHINE (unbeaten on the Poly so far this season) last time out and the pair could take it to the wire again. ONE PATH should benefit from a 4kg apprentice claim and may get her head in front this time. SPINMYANGELSPIN won better than the margin suggested when tried on the surface for the first time. Verdict

THERE SHE GOES has finished runner-up three times in her eight starts on the Poly and must have a win to come. Her merit rating has dropped but she has drawn wide yet again. PURPLE FLOWER looked dangerous the last time she raced on the surface from a break. She loves the Poly and looks well placed for another solid run. ILHA DA ORANGE was most disappointing recently. She is capable of better and needs to be included. GRUE OF ICE ran a much better race last time and could be the value proposition of the race.
