This looks a good opportunity for prolific point-to-point scorer RUSSIAN REGENT to break his duck under Rules at the fourth time of asking. His jumping has let him down a couple of times over timber but a repeat of the effort that saw him finish a close second over this trip at Ballinrobe two starts ago might be good enough to land this. The danger could be another winner between the flags, Springfield Way, who landed a Naas bumper latest after showing ability over timber, but it would be foolish to rule out Thewesthowaya and The Tall Texan.
Russian Regent should be in the mix, while Springfield Way did the job well in a bumper last time, so has to be taken seriously. However, the votes goes to Thewesthowaya who showed enough promise on debut in this sphere at Kilbeggan to suggest a race of this nature is within her capabilities.

Several in with chances but it should pay to side with the progressive ONE COOL SHABRA. The gelding showed little on the Flat but has improved in leaps and bounds in three runs over timber, romping home by almost 30 lengths over 2m at Listowel last month. If he turns up in the same mood today, he'll take all the beating. Sam Bass and Burrenbridge Lodge both scored in similar contests on their debuts under Rules and can fight out the minor honours, while the inconsistent Why But Why was just pipped by Burrenbridge Lodge and can't be ruled out.
Sam Bass had One Cool Shabra almost 6 lengths adrift at Galway but the latter, who showed much-improved form when running his rivals ragged at Listowel since, can come out on top this time. At likely odds Llew Law is worth an each-way saver.

Recent Cork winner Bachelor Affair won this two years ago and has a chance today off this mark. Priors Gold looked beaten when falling at Hereford last time out but has claims on his best form, while Gracchus, Talkin' Tough and Fairwood Massini must also be considered. Preference, however, is for the lightly-raced NURSE RYAN. She struggled in her first three starts but the penny looks to have dropped now. After a near-miss at Killarney, she scored in some style over 2m at Ballinrobe and can improve enough to defy a 9lb rise in the weights and follow up.
Nurse Ryan stands out from a handicapping point of view and the fact that he's still unexposed only enhances his claims. Bachelor Affair and Chebona Bula have the best each-way claims.

It's hard to see beyond the claims of SIZING EUROPE, a Grade 1 winner at the last two Cheltenham Festivals. He's been lightly raced since the turn of the year but landed the Queen Mother Champion Chase in March, beating Big Zeb, before going down narrowly to the same rival at Punchestown in May. He runs well when fresh and looks far too good for these rivals. Rubi Light, a Grade 2 winner here February, looks the only possible danger, but has something to find with the selection and he prefers deep ground. Finger Onthe Pulse and Lenabane can fight out the minor money.
Last year's Champion Chase winner Sizing Europe sets a clear standard in this Grade 2 and is expected to make a winning reappearance at the expense of Rubi Light. Fingeronthepulse can chase them home.

WESTMEATH was no great shakes over timber and failed to build upon a series of promising efforts in maiden company at the start of the year but Paul Nolan's son of Kayf Tara is expected to come into himself now tackling the larger obstacles and is certainly worth a market check. Byerley Bear is another that failed to rip up any trees over hurdles but, as a half-brother to useful chaser Ross Moff, is another to consider. Native Palm has shown promise over fences previously and looks the main danger to the aforementioned pair if they fall short for lack of experience.
Native Palm has the best chasing form on offer and ought to play a big part but if Westmeath takes to fences he could easily make a winning debut in this sphere. Fellow chasing debutant Byerley Bear is most interesting of the remainder.

WARWICKSHIRE sets the form standard based on his previous efforts in bumpers and built upon a near miss over this trip at Tramore when again grabbing the silver medal at Downpatrick latest. Kieran Purcell's charge noticeably weakened inside the final furlong that day and is expected to open his account now reverting to 2m. Koko Lane disappointed on debut at Listowel but he's in the care of Willie Mullins and could feasibly improve with the benefit of that initial experience now under his belt. Henry de Bromhead's newcomer, Jimjim Mac Cool, is one to monitor in the betting.
Warwickshire should be more at home on this more conventional track and should make amends for being turned over at short odds last time. Koko Lane is open to improvement, and Jimjim Mac Cool looks the most interesting of the newcomers.
