INVESTISSEMENT is the sole C&D winner in the field and ran a blinder under 7lb claimer Charlotte Jenner when finishing third at Lingfield last month. Evidently on good terms with himself following his success in a claimer there two starts back, the veteran should be on offer at generous odds. Thunder Pass was fancied off this figure at Wolverhampton last October and was pulled out of a race at Chepstow on Friday. He is shortlisted along with Astral Weeks.

FOSTER'S ROAD shaped very well on his return following a lengthy lay-off at Newbury last month and, providing he doesn't suffer the dreaded 'bounce' factor, the 6-y-o could be the answer. Thunder Pass and Astral Weeks, both of whom are relatively unexposed, are live dangers, while Gavlar is also worth a second look.

Dream Child has progressed through the handicap ranks on the all-weather and deserves a crack at this Listed prize, while Lustrous (second) and Criteria (third) are closely matched on their efforts in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot. ARABIAN COMET gets the verdict, though, as she can be forgiven her latest effort in the Park Hill on easy ground at Doncaster. William Haggas' filly accounted for the reopposing Island Remede (fourth) and Momentus (fifth) when finishing a nose second at York before that and was only beaten half a length in the Lillie Langtry Stakes at the Glorious meeting here.

Red Avenger shaped with some improvement when cheekpieces were applied in the Spring Cup at Newbury and he is 1lb higher than when winning at Glorious Goodwood last season. There was no fluke about Emell's 25/1 triumph at Haydock last week and he is another to consider, but FIFTYSHADESOFGREY gets in at the foot of the weights and a chance is taken on the three-time all-weather scorer following a highly encouraging comeback run at Doncaster on Lincoln weekend.

Though the drop to 7f asks a question of RED AVENGER, he enjoyed his finest hour so far at this course last summer when landing the Betfred Mile and is worth siding with after an encouraging run in the Spring Cup. Perfect Muse was highly progressive last season and could have even more to offer this year, while Humidor is a smart performer on his day and should strip fitter for his reappearance effort at Nottingham. Elusivity ran a blinder when second at Windsor recently and is another to consider but slight preference is for LONG AWAITED, who was below par at Epsom but much better judged on his fine runner-up effort at Beverley previously.

Watch out for: Perfect Muse (3)

It could be worth chancing EXTRASOLAR, who should be spot-on following a couple of runs on the AW. He's now 1 lb below his last winning mark and the fact that he has winning course form is another tick in the right column. Perfect Muse doesn't know how to run a bad race and is likely to offer stern resistance, while Deeds Not Words is also worth considering.

Cheveley Park Stud have a strong hand, with Tigrilla and PROVENANCE both holding strong claims. The former enjoyed a fine first season last year, winning a French Listed race in August, and she would be suited by any rain. However, Provenance was a typical Stoute improver in 2014, winning three times, and she gave the impression there was a good race in her when finishing third in this company at Newmarket in the autumn. Don't Be ran a blinder when placed on AWC Finals day and comes into the mix if able to transfer that form to turf, and Wee Jean is more than capable of getting involved if finding her best form.

Arc Cara is improving with each run and may not have to find much on his close second at Kempton latest in order to go one better. However, his two best efforts have come on that surface and it could be worth taking him on with QUITE SMART, who signed off 2014 with a good fourth in a Newmarket maiden that has thrown up plenty of winners and should have more to offer this term. Jupiter Custos must be considered on debut for Richard Hannon.

The ground was pretty testing when MYSTICAL SPIRIT made his turf debut at Nottingham last time, but he wasn’t beaten far nevertheless. He could be seen to better effect on the forecast faster surface here and is marginally preferred to Arc Cara and King To Be.

Le Rouquin sets the recent form standard and could bounce back after narrowly missing out on a three-timer latest, but he has done all his winning on the all-weather and still has it to prove on this surface. Bold Appeal shaped with promise last year and is a contender if getting 1m2f on his return, while Open The Red could be a different proposition now upped in trip for his handicap bow. It might be worth taking a chance on YORKINDRED SPIRIT, a Mark Johnston inmate who ran well for a long way on her comeback over 1m4f when stepping up from 7f, and this shorter trip could be ideal.

Watch out for: Le Rouquin (4)

On the face of it, BOLD APPEAL was a shade disappointing in a nursery on his final outing last season. However, he remains unexposed and could be worth siding with eased in grade on his reappearance here. If Le Rouquin translates his improved AW form back on turf he will be a big threat, while Open The Red, Yorkindred Spirit and Perceived are others with claims.
