Dual Flat winner George Bancroft made a winning start over hurdles at Fontwell recently but wasn't overly-convincing in doing so and may prove vulnerable under a penalty to anything above average. One who could potentially fit that bill is the beautifully-bred ZINC WHITE, who appeared to relish soft ground when winning twice on the Flat for Ralph Beckett in the spring. Having since changed hands for 310,000 pounds, it would be disappointing if he couldn't kick off with a win over hurdles in this company, with The Guvnor looking the most interesting of the remainder.

Solid claims can be made for most of the runners in this field, with the unexposed five-year-old BILL BAXTER narrowly favoured to land the spoils.
