Oca De Thaix has performed creditably this term in handicap and hunter chases and showed he remains capable over timber when a solid third behind Knighton Combe is a similar contest to this at Worcester last month. He'll go well in receipt of a stone from ROVING LAD but the Irish raider is a progressive young hurdler who should be even better suited by this step-up in trip. He gets the nod with the unexposed Gap Of Dunloe next best.
Gap of Dunloe made an impressive start to his hurdling career here in April and is worth chancing to atone for his subsequent Ludlow flop with a tongue tie now in place. Recent winners Roving Lad and Lucky Vic are a couple of obvious threats, while Oca de Thaix is also of interest for a yard which finally seems to be finding its feet again.

Charming Lad is on the upgrade but it was only a modest affair he landed at Fontwell and a 12lb rise for that easy success looks a harsh punishment. He'll probably be good enough against exposed rivals but a chance is taken with BACKFROMTHECONGO in receipt of a stone from the topweight. He's not the most reliable but stays this trip well and has every chance if on a going day. No Panic will get involved if rediscovering his best.
Three of Cold Harbour's 4 career wins have been gained here and he showed enough over C&D last time to think he's ready to strike again now. Backfromthecongo is temperamental but is another with a good record here and could be the one to chase the selection home.

Peter Bowen looks to hold a strong hand here with MIKE TOWEY and Strumble Head representing the Pembrokeshire yard which is currently in high form. The latter was a decent hurdler but this is his chasing debut and Mike Towey is preferred after running really well last time in a Cartmel novice chase when only reeled in late on. He has always looked a chaser in the making. Jaffonien has also shown enough the last twice to warrant shortlist inclusion.
This ought to rest between Jaffonnien and Mike Towey, who both represent in-form yards. The former just about sets the standard, but marginal preference is for the latter, who comes into this race in better form, travelling with plenty of zest when second at Cartmel last time, and can go one better here.

Plenty with claims in a competitive contest and MARTIAL LAW may follow up a comfortable Worcester success. This is far tougher but he inhabits an appealing mark and could well have considerable improvement to come, especially over this longer trip. Wellforth, equally adept over fences and hurdles, arrives in excellent heart whilst Sansili and Royal Riviera both look to build on recent successes and should be in the mix. The progressive Malin Bay and consistent Scotsbrook Cloud are also respected.
Malin Bay is going the right way in handicaps and wasn't disgraced in a race not run to suit at Perth last time. He's the narrow pick over Royal Riviera and Hills of Aran in an open contest.

West With The Wind has the best form in the book, including a Grade 3 success over the talented Loosen My Load at Limerick last autumn. However, he has to concede plenty of weight to talented opponents and NOBUNGA is taken to make the most of the 26lb he receives despite remaining 6lb out of the handicap. He has impressed the last twice and remains lightly-raced over the larger obstacles. The honest and consistent Cootehill can never be discounted.
West With The Wind boasts a near-flawless record at this track, and should have too much speed for the doughty Cootehill at this trip.

Behtarini and SOUTHWAY STAR finished one-two at Newton Abbot two days ago and there should be little between them now on revised terms. Michael Nolan takes over on the latter though and that could make the difference with the combination having scored effortlessly on the mare's penultimate outing. Wicklewood put up his best effort for some time when hunting up Space Telescope at Newton Abbot last time and a repeat of that performance would certainly put him in the mix.
Behtarini and Southway Star come here at the top of their game and look the pair to concentrate on, the first named given the nod to confirm recent Newton Abbot placings, despite the revised terms. Carhue Princess will be a lot sharper for her recent reappearance and may fare best of the rest.

WHATSHALLWEDO has been a revelation the last twice when cruising home unchallenged at Sedgefield over fences. It's interesting he reverts to hurdles now but was successful over the smaller obstacles as recently as last December and can complete the three-timer if remaining in the same heart. Smalib Monterg only won a modest race at Uttoxeter last time but could improve again and looks the danger. The rest are hard to enthuse about but Oran Flyer is a possible at his best.
Smalib Monterg remains of interest back in handicaps after breaking his duck at the third attempt for Dr Richard Newland at Uttoxeter recently and has sound claims of thwarting Whatshallwedo's hat-trick bid. Catch The Fire is another to consider if the subject of any significant support on his handicap bow.
