Klimt Madrik shaped with promise here on his Rules debut and although it wasn't quite enough to claim a place, better can be expected. That said, he already appeared to want further so with a drop in trip not certain to be of benefit, it looks best to side with THERE RUNS MARY. Olly Murphy's mare, a bumper winner at the beginning of the year, is related to the useful She's A Fine Wine so if anything like her sister now sent hurdling, should be hard to beat. Adrian completes the shortlist.
THERE RUNS MARY proved classy in bumpers and is fancied to make a winning hurdle debut here. She's proven on testing ground and her debut win has been franked in this discipline. Bardenas sets the standard on his French form on easy ground so looks the obvious danger while Klimt Madrik also shaped with promise on his sole hurdles start so can also make his presence felt.

ESPERTI turned a corner to score over C&D on his final start last season before returning with a good second at Newton Abbot. Perhaps crucially, David Rees' gelding will relish testing conditions and, with the assistance of Sean Bowen, could earn a second chasing triumph. Try The Money still has few miles on the clock so may have a bit more to offer, while Shot Boii is worth a look on his reappearance.
ESPERTI gained a first chase win in the spring and held his form in defeat on his reappearance. He's only gone up another 2lb for that so remains very well treated on his old Irish form and he's proven on testing ground so is the clear pick here. One Last Glance may have won but for falling earlier in the week so looks the obvious danger if turned out quickly while Benny Baloo can also provide a threat. He looked in need of the outing last time but was consistent when last seen before that last year.

Tamarind Bay sets the standard with an official rating of 113 and can be expected to run his race, but LEGENDARY LUKE shades preference. The point-to-point winner, whose dam is a half-sister to Gold Cup hero Native River, appeared to bump into one at Worcester on his Rules bow. There was no disgrace in finishing second and any improvement now sent over hurdles could be enough. Gee Force Flyer can get the better of Allstitchedup for third.
GEE FORCE FLYER placed behind what looked a classy rival first time out and should get off the mark in this weaker contest. He's proven with cut and is a strong stayer at the trip which could prove vital. The consistent and experienced Tamarind Bay is the obvious danger though he has proven a bit frustrating. Allstitchedup was green on debut over C&D but shaped with plenty of promise and should also be thereabouts if progressing.

Sparkling Duke makes his first start for the Kayley Woollacott yard and the booking of Sean Bowen catches the eye. However, EL BANDIDO PANCHO was a convincing seven-length victor over track and trip 10 days ago and if in anything like that form, he will prove hard to beat again. Leech kept on for fourth over 2m here last month and is likely to appreciate the step back up in trip.
LEECH has been steadily progressing and if coming on for his reappearance run he could gain a first hurdles victory here. He's finished well on his last couple of starts suggesting that this longer trip would be of benefit so he can get the better of El Bandido Pancho. That rival was an easy winner last time and looks well treated off a 7lb higher mark. Recent point winner Sparkling Duke is well treated on his best form and can fill the podium if fit for his rules return.

Jaipaletemps is bound to attract support after scoring easily over 2m here but a 7lb penalty, along with the step up in distance, might open the door for A GREAT EXCUSE. The five-year-old has shown little in four outings under Rules, but was sent off at big prices and now makes his handicap/chase debut on his first appearance for the Max Comley stable. The application of first-time cheekpieces could also help eke out more. Dj Pete completes the shortlist.
JAIPALETEMPS gained a first victory for this stable last time and is chosen to follow up off 7lb higher. He remains thrown in on his old French form and the step back up in trip shouldn't be an issue. Bossofthebus was let down by his jumping on his chase debut but is well treated on his Irish hurdles form so looks an interesting contender for a yard with a good record here. He can fill the places along with chase debutant A Great Excuse who was consistent in maiden hurdles last winter and has been given a fair opening mark.

Followango has occupied the runner-up spot in eight of her 15 starts under Rules, most recently over fences at Hereford, and SOMETHINGTOSOMEONE might be the reason she fills that place again. Ben Clarke's mare was last seen taking the silver medal home over 2m4f at this track in March and has undergone a wind operation during her summer break. She should have more to offer on just her second outing in a handicap. Lady Harriett is another to note.
The consistent FOLLOWANGO hasn't won over hurdles but she arrives in form and looks attractively treated on her latest runner up effort in this discipline. She has a good record here much like her stable and she is proven on testing ground. Hellfire Princess needed the run last time but was in good form previously so could throw down the biggest challenge while Walkinthecotswolds isn't dismissed either. She didn't take to chasing last time but proved consistent in this discipline previously so should remain competitive.
