Star Neuville was strongly supported to make a winning debut over hurdles at Naas and it's certainly far too early to write off this talented bumper performer after that sole outing over timber. He failed to settle that day and it will be fascinating to see if he can deliver an improved performance. However, if there is notable market support for the Willie Mullins debutant, TOOSTRONG, he appeals as a viable alternative with his yard in such sparkling form. Sure Thyne holds Lisrose on recent running and looks next best with more improvement likely over timber.
There is admittedly a fair amount of guesswork involved in tipping Toostrong, but he fits the profile for many of the yard's leading performers, and is expected to have too much for Thomond Park and Star Neuville.

The talented MISSISSIPPI RIVER keeps finding one too good. If he could reproduce his performance behind Rebel Fitz at Clonmel in September he'd take the world of beating but it was rather disappointing to see him fail to outpoint Casa Jove at the same venue last time. He is given one more chance here. Willie Mullins unveils an interesting newcomer in the ex-Andrew Balding-trained Simenon and it would be no surprise to see him go very close on his hurdling debut. He was a talented handicapper on the level. The consistent Golanbrook looks a sound each-way option.
Zerashan was the best of these on the Flat and appeals as one that should take to hurdling. With that in mind, he's preferred to Simenon and Mississippi River.

MIKAEL D'HAGUENET (also entered here on Sunday) seems unlikely to ascend the heights once anticipated but he showed up well behind Voler La Vedette at Navan last time when finishing third on his first outing since May. The jury remains out to an extent but he is well worth another chance with race conditions very much in his favour. Jack Cool concedes weight all round but his overall profile suggests that he will still go close, whilst New Phase did the business very sweetly at Cork last time and the suspicion remains that we have yet to see the best of him over hurdles.
Provided his jumping holds up, the classy Head of The Posse can make a winning return at the expense of New Phase and Jack Cool.

Inspector Clouseau wasn't disgraced in the Greatwood Hurdle behind Brampour at Cheltenham and should give his usual solid account, although he could do with some respite from the assessor. The consistent Montan is also noted along with Staying Article, who retains the look of a horse with plenty more to come.
A very competitive handicap, as one would expect for the prize money on offer, and Montan is chosen to atone for a narrow defeat at Down Royal. Citizenship has to be afforded the utmost respect and Jeunopse should be thereabouts again.

BACHER BOY was never going to beat Zaidpour at Thurles recently but his overall profile is pretty solid and he'll be suited by trip and ground. Missgiloney catches the eye as she's tough, reliable and consistent but her absence since midsummer is a concern. Expect a good run all the same, with Bolands Corner also fancied to go well. The latter finished ahead of the selection behind Zaidpour but will struggle to confirm placings on massively different terms. Worldor is unexposed and interesting off a lowly mark.

OUT NOW is possibly better over two and a half miles but he did travel really well at Clonmel before striding away to win with plenty in hand. A 10lb rise does not aid his cause but he remains lightly raced over fences, open to notable improvement, and the style of that recent success was most impressive. Saludos has never contested a handicap and he is essential shortlist material off what looks a feasible mark, whilst Mahrajaan and Clarkey should go well from the foot of the weight, both being generally reliable and consistent sorts.
Out Now's record over fences may well be a little patchy, but he created such a favourable impression when winning at Clonmel, he just has to be sided with from this 10 lb higher mark. Mahrajaan and Majestic Oak look the most solid to place.

SIR DES CHAMPS came with a storming late run to claim the Martin Pipe race at the Cheltenham Festival and looks a truly exciting recruit to chasing for Willie Mullins. He hasn't been since but this looks a very nice introduction to the larger obstacles and he can score here before going on to better things. It has to be significant that he has been sent straight over fences. Niki Royal could go well with her weight allowance but Mackeys Forge could be the one to take advantage should any problems befall the selection.
Sir des Champs faces a straightforward task on his chasing debut and a clear round should see him win with ease. Mackeys Forge and Molly's Boy are probably yhe most likely to chase him home.

Some promising sorts clash and KICK FOR TOUCH can gain a second bumper success following a comfortable Roscommon victory in August. He was far from disgraced when recently failing to concede a stone (plus his rider's allowance) to At Fishers Cross at Cork and can get back on the winning track here as the front pair were well clear on that occasion. Moscow Mannon and Joxer cannot be discounted but Espresso Lady looks the main danger for Jessica Harrington. She was impressive when scoring at Navan last March but her subsequent absence may indicate that this run will be needed.
Espresso Lady beat subsequent winner Shadow Eile by 9 lengths when last seen at Navan in March and should defy a penalty if fully wound up. Kick For Touch is the main danger, whilst newcomer Ziff shouldn't be taken too lightly.
