Verdict

A competitive-looking race. ALLOWAY GROVE was disappointing last time but does prefer this course and distance and does have a winning chance. Stable companions from the Gavin Smith yard, JUST SO EASY and JUNGLE PROMISE, both tend not to finish off their races but should be in the shake-up once again. PIECE OF MY HEART was very disappointing last time but if showing her best side can win a race like this.

ACTIC ADVANCE was beaten at very short odds last time out and could be a difficult horse to win with. The blinkers have now been removed and that could do the trick for trainer Alan Greeff. BORN A STAR has some fair form and should be right there at the finish once again. BOLD CAPTAIN has some fair form and is not out of it. Verdict

A small field but it should be a decent race. MASTER SUPREME has won his last four starts and often looks beaten in running but fight backs very gamely so could prove better than his merit rating. CHRISTOPHER ROBIN fought on well to win his latest start at Gauteng and could well make a winning local debut. BLACKBALL clearly needed his local debut and it would not be a surprise were he to win a race of this nature. ARANJUEZ and MISS ORANGE are also quite capable of being right there at the finish as well.

Although SACRED IBIS has run well on the Polytrack her very best recent runs have been on the turf so she is likely to go close to winning a race of this nature. SILVIA LOUISE fought on well to win her latest start and her trainer is in good form so should be included. Verdict

TARANTINO has only the one win to his name but did chase home Eastern Cape champion three-year-old Global Drummer a number of times last year. If reproducing that level of form he does look the right one to score. He did look an unlucky loser last time out. RAZOR RED has been consistent and could still have a lot of improvement to come so could be the danger. VISTA NOVA was a disappointment since winning his maiden, but could improve on local debut after a change of trainer. Verdict

An interesting race. TARSUS was not disgraced behind REGIMENTAL last time but does not always show his best side. REGIMENTAL on the other hand has been very good since joining trainer Alan Greeff, winning five of his last six starts, and it would not be a surprise were he to win again. KIMBERLEY STAR has not won for some time but could pop up and earn some more money. CROWN GUARDIAN makes his local debut and he does have ability so must be considered. ALPHA PAPPA is in good form and should be concerned with the finish yet again.
