He arguably produced his best effort in this sphere to date when chasing home the improving Mauritino over 2m3f here last time (pulled 11-lengths clear of the third) and he will prove difficult to beat if in the same mood. Jacarado, a winner over fences at Towcester latest, looks next best with Knight Blze seemingly up against it.
This looks a race Soulard can hardly lose.

This looks a straight match between Numen and SHALLOW BAY, who had a good scrap over this C&D some two weeks ago. The former got the better of the argument that day, but David Pipe's gelding is now 7lb better off for a three quarter of a length beating and should be able to reverse placings with cheekpieces fitted. Five times Flat winner Resplendent Light is not completely out of it on his hurdling debut.
Shallow Bay travelled best when touched off by Numen over C&D last time, and can gain revenge on 7 lb better terms. Resplendent Light is best of the others, but it would be something of a surprise if he could shake up the principals.

A clear round of jumping could see bottom-weight MCCAULEY land the spoils here. He held a 2-length lead when crashing out two from home at Bangor last time and it's interesting that cheekpieces are refitted now. Callisto Moon similarly was in front when coming a cropper two out at Kempton on Sunday and warrants respect, while Oceana Gold has every chance if producing his 'A' game.
McCauley was about to make a winning start for his new yard when unseating at Bangor, and compensation awaits here now under professional handling. Callisto Moon may not have held on at Kempton on Sunday, but he was still in front when capsizing 2 out and will prove a threat if none the worse for his spill.

An all-the-way success at Towcester some two weeks ago will have done Run Along Boy's confidence the world of good and he warrants respect in his bid to follow up, but preference is for hat-trick seeking CAPTAIN DASH. He has shown his versatility with wins over fences and hurdles during the last two weeks and a 7lb penalty for the latest of those may not be enough to prevent him from going in again. Past C&D winner Captain Becket cannot be ruled out off bottom-weight.
Captain Dash has been a revelation since joining his current stable and can complete a hat-trick despite the steadier of a penalty. My Brother Sylvest is capable of featuring back in headgear.

It could pay to side with COACH LANE in an open race. This one time 132-rated performer looked in need of the run at Worcester 12 days ago (first start since April) and it's interesting that McCoy, who won on this lad back in November '06, takes the ride this afternoon. Wrapitupboys is worthy of consideration on just his third start over the larger obstacles, while Morestead wouldn't be without a chance if finding top gear.
A race that won't take much winning, with all but one of the runners having question marks over their attitude or reliability. Wrapitupboys looks the exception and gets the vote with his shrewd new stable quickly dropping him in trip after he'd looked a non stayer at 3m last time.

SPRING MOON is the least exposed of this pair and can deliver the goods. He produced by far and away his best effort yet when given a fairly aggressive ride over C&D some two weeks ago and a similar approach should see him get the better of Mumbles Pier this afternoon. Peter Bowen's gelding has some decent hurdles form under his belt but has come unstuck in three previous starts in this sphere.
Mumbles Pier was the better of the pair at one time, but his jumping let him down when last tried in this sphere and Spring Moon is preferred after a bold display over C&D last time.

Any significant market support in this race full of newcomers would be of huge interest but BALAKLAVA edges the vote. This beautifully bred son of Dalakhani represents a stable who do particularly well in this sphere and he is sure to be fairly forward for his racecourse debut. Megan's Motivator is a rare NH runner for Andrew Balding and could well be worth placing on the shortlist, as could Emma Lavelle's Staigue Fort.
Balaklava has the pedigree to do well in this sphere, and could hardly be in better hands, so gets the vote over Black Is Beautiful and Staigue Fort, both of whom make more than average appeal on paper.
