Boone's Eagle is the fastest of these and was a good winner in a similar race last time. Timely Baby was well beaten on her latest start but scored in tougher company before that. Both are likely to find one too good in TAWNEY PORT, an impressive eight-length winner under hand urging in similar grade last time. She's looked a much improved horse since joining Gary House's barn and another win could be on the cards here.
Mi Pais was a well-beaten third in a tougher race last time but has won in a slightly higher grade and would have a good chance on his best form. Broke But Stylin wasn't far away against tougher company and has won at this level. He has the favoured rails draw and will take all the beating but it's worth siding with PLEASANT ITALIAN, winner of a weaker race last time. But he's scored in better company, is the fastest on dirt and over this trip and could have too much pace for his rivals.
Checotah Cat was second in a similar contest last time but that was more than two months ago and over a mile. Hurry Me Home, beaten a neck in similar and the fastest on dirt and over this trip, makes more appeal but this should go to CONTINENTALSUCCESS. A comfortable winner in similar company last time and from the in-form stable of Steve Asmussen, he shouldn't be inconvenienced by the slight step up in trip and looks capable of following up today.
French Coach was only third last time and steps up in class today but, over this trip and from the rails draw, can be given a chance. Kissastar is the fastest of these and could go well on her return to a route and with blinkers added. POLLY LYNCH was second in similar company last time out but has run well in much better company. She's only run five times, looks capable of further improvement and could be the one to be on here.
Riva's Image was third in a similar contest last time despite being bumped at the start. He should go close again, while the speedy Hawking can be given a chance now he's dropped back in trip. It's worth taking a chance, however, on MR. GRAY BUCK, who has been running in much tougher company. He's the fastest at this trip and might prove too strong in this grade.
Actual has run well in better company and can be given a chance here but Timeaftertimeafter is likely to be all the rage after a string of near-misses at this level. But he's had plenty of chances and it's worth siding with SIR CALLIOPE here. He's been well beaten in his last two races on dirt but he has bags of speed on turf and has put in some useful efforts in better races. His return to grass in this lesser grade should see him break his duck.
FLYING FALCON was only tenth last time out but that was in tougher company and on turf. She is a much better horse on dirt and has performed creditably against tougher sorts. He looks far too strong for his rivals at this level. The speedy pair Clever Miss and Show Me The Town look the best of the rest.
Mythical Conquest was a battling winner by a nose in a similar race this month and should go close again. Barnard Man is a real speed merchant and was a close third in similar grade last time. He's another to consider but this should go to CHERBOURG. Four times a winner from six starts, he scored cosily in a similar race last time out. He looks to be still improving and should notch up another win today.
ABOUT FACE, a winner on his debut, duelled most of the way over 7f here this month before weakening into second near the finish. Over this shorter trip, he should go one better. The speedy Crafty Brutus was third in a tougher race last time and has claims but has a poor draw to overcome and Next Step, winner of a $30,000 maiden claimer last time, makes more appeal for the exacta.
Captain Fina put in his best performance over a mile and should appreciate this trip while Super Quin has bags of speed but has failed to make his mark in better company. ATRIUM has yet to get in the frame but his three runs in tougher races have seen him thereabouts. He's obviously improving and, dropped in grade today, he should be able to break his duck.
