TSAR PAUL boasts C&D winning form and while recent efforts have lacked any real conviction, the gelded son of Xaar has come back down to a workable mark and the booking of Pat Smullen could be significant. Duke Of Rutherford sets a good form standard but may struggle at the top of the weights, while of the others, Sweet Rhythm can get serious at the business end on a return to her best form.
An ordinary handicap in which it's hard to be overly positive about any of the field. Pencil Hill has dropped to an attractive mark and makes most appeal, though, ahead of Mountain Coral and Romeo's On Fire.

The ultra-consistent Tarrsille must be considered closely at the shortlist stage and having finished a neck down in second here earlier this month, the Ger Lyons representative is expected to go close again. At the forecast prices however, DEVONELLI is preferred. The three-year-old filly has come down 1lb in the ratings for a decent effort over 1m here and with her solitary win having come over the track and trip, this could be her chance. Elusive Ridge is another with claims.
Tarrsille ticks plenty of the right boxes, in form and with the plum draw in stall 1, so he gets the nod ahead of Devonelli and Solent Ridge in this run-of-the-mill affair.

Prior experience for both only enhances their chances further but preference is for the newcomer, MUCK'N'BRASS. The Edward Lynam charge cost 8,000gns as a yearling and is closely related to Crystal Belle, who has scored over 1m on the all-weather. The booking of Pat Smullen suggests he is showing up well at home and market support would be of interest.
Fluidity looks to have been found a good opportunity to open his account and rates as a fairly confident selection. Stablemate Kashmir Peak could provide the sternest opposition, while a market move for Muck'n'brass would be significant.

LIBERTY TO ROCK clearly saves his best for the all-weather surface and having scored over the C&D here in November, the five-year-old is taken to follow up having been handed just a 3lb rise. Hopes N Dreams remains relatively unexposed and looks to be well weighted on her second handicap start, while Cool Athlete has come down 3lb for a lacklustre effort in October and is another to consider at the prices.
Cool Athlete will be suited by this return to 1m and looks sure to give a good account with Pat Smullen taking the reins. Lily's Star is also dropped in trip and rates as a big threat, while Hopes N Dreams could yet have more to offer.

Avanti Albert has been struggling to get his head in-front lately but is a C&D winner who has dropped 9lb below his last winning mark so a big run would thus come as no surprise. ARAGORN ROUGE lost little in defeat when third to the improving Elizabeth Coffee over 1m3f here in handicap company last month and sets the form standard with that effort. Steel Park has been kept fit over hurdles and is considered now making a rare appearance on the Flat, but the greatest dangers may come from Kavanagh and An Spailpin Fanach. The former showed plenty of ability in 2m bumpers last year while the latter is making his racecourse debut for Jim Bolger, having fetched 117,000 US dollars as a yearling.
An Spailpin Fanach looks a most interesting debutant for the Jim Bolger stable and wouldn't need to be anything out of the ordinary to win this first-time-up. Kavanagh and Salam Alaykum standout as the most obvious dangers.
