Cardinal Walter returned a seven-length winner of a maiden hurdle over the extended 2m here in December and gave a good account of himself when runner-up in novices' company at Newbury. He may be vulnerable under a penalty again, however, a comment that is also applicable to Jonjo O'Neill's Wetherby winner Fort Worth. A chance, therefore, is taken on ROYALRAISE, who receives weight from the aforementioned pair and is entitled to build on a promising hurdling debut at Southwell in November.
CARDINAL WALTER lost little caste in defeat when runner-up behind Qewy at Newbury, and Nicky Henderson's charge gets the nod with the possibility of more to come. Fort Worth kept his 100% record intact at Wetherby in October and warrants plenty of respect following another break, while Royalraise may be capable of better, also.

IFANDBUTWHYNOT landed the 2013 Gerry Fielden and has transferred all of his ability over fences judging by his recent efforts, which include a 2m victory at Musselburgh last time out. David O'Meara's nine-year-old is open to further improvement on his sixth chase outing and gets the verdict ahead of improving novice Dresden and Robbie, the latter of whom has already won twice here this term. Kings Grey has dropped to a fair mark and is respected with Tom Scudamore booked, while Quicuyo has claims if turned out after a planned engagement here yesterday.
FESTIVE AFFAIR has cut little ice in a trio of handicaps over fences thus far but may be worth chancing off his falling mark with his yard firing on all cylinders now. Kings Grey is not the stoutest of finishers, but was right back to his best over this C&D in January and looks sure to give another decent account if turning up in a similar mood.

On the basis that Charlie Longsdon has secured the services of Davy Russell for DROP OUT JOE on his handicap debut over fences, the son of Generous gets the vote. The lightly-raced seven-year-old is on a decent mark (132) judged on his hurdles form and created a favourable impression when scoring on his chase bow at Carlisle in October. Behind two talented novices in subsequent starts at Cheltenham and Ascot, this could be the time to catch him now taking to the handicap ranks. Night In Milan won the race 12 months ago off 10lb lower and arrives on the back of a respectable third-placed effort in the Sky Bet Chase here, while Mon Parrain showed a good attitude when outbattling Our Father at Cheltenham on New Year's Day and he's noted along with last season's Champion Novices' Hunter Chase winner Theatre Queen.
STREAMS OF WHISKEY and Caulfields Venture haven't been seen for a while, but both have winning form on a sound surface and can go well fresh, so make plenty of appeal, the former narrowly preferred. Last year's victor Night In Milan shouldn't be far away, either.

DISTIME was in the process of running a big race before coming to grief two out at Sedgefield last time out and assuming that fall hasn't left its mark, John Quinn's charge is well worth another look. The relatively lightly raced nine-year-old was sent off favourite for an Aintree handicap the time before that and was a ready winner at the north Yorkshire track in November. Bobcatbilly looked a little out of his depth at Ascot latest but can make his presence felt dropping in class, while Shadrack is the sole course winner in the field and isn't without claims dropping back in distance.
DISTIME was in the process of running creditably when coming to grief two from home at Sedgefield in January, and looks sure to go close if none the worse for that mishap. Wings of Smoke and Bobcatbilly may be the ones to benefit if he disappoints.

Oh Land Abloom was deemed good enough to contest a Listed bumper at Newbury last time out so is clearly held in high regard at home, while point-to-point winner Lawless Island is capable of stepping up on what he's shown in two starts under Rules thus far. MURRAY MOUNT can serve up a bold showing, though, as he looked to be going in the right direction when finishing second at Lingfield in December and should have more to offer here.
THE LAST CAVALIER showed clear ability under a sympathetic ride when fourth on last month's debut at Towcester, and there's a chance he will improve plenty for that experience, his pedigree offering further hope. Emperor Sakhee and Oh Land Abloom have offered enough to think they will be very competitive, too.
