AUTUMN EVENING ran well in some back-end maidens on the Flat and might make a winning debut over flights. He split a couple of jumps winners when third to stablemate Ilmig at Navan and handled heavy ground when filling the same spot last month at the Curragh. A winner on successive days at Galway in the summer, Flying Scotsman was notably weak in the market and made mistakes when well beaten on his hurdling bow at Punchestown. He'll need to have sharpened up a good bit for the experience to score here, but it's not the strongest of maidens and he has to be considered. Toughari ran into a good one at Gowran last time and had run respectably on hurdling debut the time before. He's won on testing ground on the Flat, and might handle conditions better than Curious Bride who impressed at this course when winning on the level on quick ground.

Top Tip: Autumn Evening (2)
Watch out for: Flying Scotsman (3)

CURIOUS BRIDE attained fairly useful form on the level and assuming she takes to hurdling, she may well be up to the job. Flying Scotsman has to be better than he displayed at Punchestown, with Toughari and Autumn Evening others to consider

Cheltenham bumper ninth GOOD TIME JOHNNY was never a factor behind the front-running Gabynako at Naas but might improve enough from that hurdling debut to score here. He won an ordinary bumper on nice ground at Musselburgh and possibly won't be seen to best effect on testing ground, but perhaps his bit of class can see him through. Joseph Conrad ran well in a bumper at Punchestown in October and has to be considered on his hurdling bow, while Viscount Gort is from a very strong National Hunt family and is another newcomer to note. Kings Halo finished in another parish when third to Ferny Hollow at Gowran but might have place claims, and Ricky Bobby was well-backed when finishing fifth in a bumper on his debut in October.

JOSEPH CONRAD made an encouraging start under Rules when third in a big-field Punchestown bumper and can make a successful hurdle debut for Gordon Elliott. Bumper winner Good Time Jonny has the potential to leave his first run over hurdles behind and is also on the shortlist.

MASTER MCSHEE was undoubtedly flattered by the margin of defeat when second to Cheltenham bumper runner-up Appreciate It over course and distance a fortnight ago. Nonetheless, there is nothing of that one's calibre in this line-up and he gave it a good go from the front that day when finishing clear of the remainder. The Malinas gelding can go one better. Atlantic Fairy was third to a smart mare in Ard Abhainn at Clonmel over a year ago and can get involved in receipt of a handy 12lbs from the selection. Direct Fire had some useful types behind when winning a point-to-point but is another returning from a long absence. Wanchu Beach may come forward a good bit from a fair first effort at Punchestown while L'Impertinent is a nicely-bred newcomer to keep an eye on.

CHACUN POUR SOI has a nice bit in hand on ratings and can get his season off to a winning start. His mark rose to 172 after beating Min at the Dublin Racing Festival in February before a setback ruled him out of the Champion Chase the following month. He has to give a fair bit of weight to some useful rivals but, if anywhere near his best, this should be a straightforward task. Chosen Mate has a first outing over fences since winning the Grand Annual and has race fitness on his side, while Darasso was a Grade 2 winner over this trip last year but his last few runs have been underwhelming and cheekpieces are now tried. Cash Back is an exciting front-runner at his best and connections will be hoping for a clear round to get his chasing career back on track.

WESTERN VICTORY ran with credit against two higher-rated and very experienced mares at Clonmel and she can go well back in novice company. Twice a winner this season, she has had a fairly busy time of things which is a concern but she still gets the vote to manage the 4lb weight concession to her rivals. Sapphire Lady jumped well when making a winning start over fences at Thurles. She might prefer a bit further and better ground but still looks a danger being so unexposed over the larger obstacles. Scarlet And Dove was a length in front of Mount Ida over course and distance a fortnight ago and may confirm that form although her jumping was a bit ragged on that occasion, while smart hurdler Jeremys Flame hasn't had a good start to chasing and looks best watched for the moment.

SAPPHIRE LADY made the perfect start to her chasing career after 18 months off when comfortably making all at Thurles. She looks a force to be reckoned with in these sort of races and can double her tally here. Western Victory will look to put her chasing experience to good use but may have to settle for silver, ahead of Mount Ida, who caught the eye under a considerate ride a fortnight ago.

It's true that DARRENS HOPE had the run of the race when beating the reopposing Ragnar Lodbrok over course and distance last month but this progressive mare can confirm the form on 3lb worse terms. Previously an easy winner of a maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe, the selection made all last time and impressed with how she picked up in the straight. Paul Townend rides again and Robert Murphy's homebred can complete a hat-trick. Ragnar Lodbrok made a few little errors last time and perhaps a stronger gallop might see him in a better light. Commandingpresence didn't look to be crying out for an extra half-mile when a last-flight faller at Limerick but The Getaway Star is one who looks ready for this test of stamina after shaping fairly well on her first two starts over shorter trips.

SAYCE GOLD created a good impression on her Thurles debut and looks good enough to cope with the step up to Graded company. Commandingpresence probably would have won a listed race last time had she not come down at the last and can provide the chief threat ahead of last month's C&D listed 1-2 Darrens Hope and Ragnar Lodbrok.

PIKE COUNTY was travelling like a winner when coming down at the last at Navan and can make amends. He was raised 2lb in the ratings for that promising effort but Simon Torrens' claim more than negates that and he's a horse that has run well at this venue a couple of times in the past. Sullane Hill is thriving and bids for a hat-trick after a couple of front-running wins at Thurles. It's obviously getting harder for him as he goes up in the weights but he's still likely to give a good account. Our Roxane didn't take to fences but had a fine season over hurdles last term and would be a leading player if back to her best, while Charlie Siringo has run two solid races in handicap hurdles thus far and is still open to improvement.

PIKE COUNTY fell at the last with the race at his mercy at Navan last time so a rise of only 2 lb is unlikely to stop him in his bid to gain compensation provided he's none the worse for that experience. He's a confident choice, though if either Shakeytry or Conright Boy can reproduce their chasing form back over the smaller obstacles, they'd be sure to go close.
