Philip Rothwell is two-handed here, and Paul Nolan has got Wild Desire and first reserve Cash Me Outside in the mix. Credit is due to those involved with getting Oscar Sam back on track for the first time since Christmas 2017. Of course Irish Grand National hero from 2017, Our Duke, ran with distinction for the same owner/breeders until meeting an unfortunate and premature demise in 2018. It's not ideal coming here on the back of a fall but EPSON DU HOUX gets the nod. A course winner of a maiden hurdle, Henry de Bromhead's representative would seem to have more scope for progression than these rivals. Whereyounow is interesting on chase debut. He'd likely want a longer trip to be seen at his best.

It's good to see Pat Kelly get Pateen back on track for the first time since October 2019 but, for a selection, it might be safer to look in the direction of last-time-out winners Notice To Close, Cluan Dara, and Down Royal second GOLDEN JEWEL. Previous visits to Powerstown Park have seen connections of the selection garner a little prize money through fourth and fifth-place finishes. However, a bigger cheque could be coming the way of owner/breeder John Power now, as Stand Off drops back to this two-mile trip. He can come on from his last effort, his first in 233 days, and the five-year-old had a 329-day break prior to his previous Clonmel run. It looks as though Philip Fenton might be getting a clearer run with his charge now. The form of the stable - Carrolls Cottage won for the yard at Limerick on Tuesday - and Mark Walsh's booking for the ride, are further encouraging factors. The Punchestown Festival bumper fourth is preferred to the likes of Centurion Steel. My Tent Or Yours' half-sister Annie Kate is another with a squeak.

KLASSY KAY can follow up here despite a 15lb hike for her win at Fairyhouse last month. The Presenting mare was making her first outing for Willie Mullins last time when recording a very cosy success. The champion trainer has a great record of improving these sort of horses and it would be no surprise if she could progress again from that run. Resurrected Duke has been knocking on the door and could be thereabouts again. He lost his chance with a bad mistake two from home at Fairyhouse last time but had been runner-up on three previous runs and remains on the same mark as last time. Chalky White has run some solid races over fences of late and the top-weight is another that has to come into calculations.

2019 Irish National winner BURROWS SAINT can give weight and a beating to these rivals on his return to action. The seven-year-old won a similar contest over two-miles-three when last seen at Punchestown last New Year's Eve and this test of stamina will be more up his street. He dominated from the front in a small field then and similar tactics could be used here. Paul Townend chooses him over stable-mate Scarpeta and that looks significant. On paper Scarpeta looks the threat but hasn't been seen on the racecourse since March 2019. He is a course and distance winner here in the past but may be best watched after such a long absence. Dallas Des Pictons would be a big player off his hurdles mark of 142 but was completely tailed off over fences on his return this season so needs to leave that run well behind.

Not a strong looking contest and INAGH'S GIFT may be able to land the spoils after a solid run to finish third at Limerick recently. She ran well despite being sent to post a 25/1 shot then and the form looks solid enough for the grade. Crack On Corrie is a consistent sort, both over hurdles and fences, and should be thereabouts again in this company. Getaway Queen has been running well on the Flat and if she can carry that kind of form back over to hurdling again she is another that has to be given consideration.

French-import CAPODANNO should be good enough to make a winning start for Willie Mullins. He cost 185,000 euros after finishing second on his debut at Compiegne last November and the fact that he holds a Grade 1 entry at Leopardstown over Christmas would suggest that he has been pleasing connections at home. Dreamingandhoping has run solid races on her two outings over hurdles and she looks capable of picking up more prize-money now. Eilise's A Lady won two bumpers and wasn't disgraced in Listed company on her third outing so it will be interesting to see how she fares here on her jumping debut.
