Handwoven and Mandy's Choice are newcomers of interest representing Mark Johnston and Richard Fahey respectively, with preference on paper for the former, a 38,000 euros son of Shamardal. However, those with experience appeal as quite a useful bunch, notably ROSSO CORSA. The Channon colt, a son of Footstepsinthesand, revealed notable improvement when filling the minor placing behind Malachim Mist at Goodwood and further progress would see him go close here. Newmarket third Rizal Park, a potential improver, completes the shortlist.

Vainglory hasn't been seen around the Roodeye since 2009 and faces a tough test off topweight, whilst something was clearly amiss with STAR LAHIB at Pontefract last time when a badly tailed-off co-favourite. The latter, still unexposed, remains of interest though after just three runs and a leap of faith is taken to row in with her after that reversal. Honey Of A Kitten is currently on a roll whilst Dolphin Rock is interesting upped in trip, likewise An Cat Dubh.

Top Tip: Star Lahib (4)
Watch out for: Honey Of A Kitten (7)

Dolphin Rock is worth another crack at this trip and he can come out on top in a trappy handicap. Knowe Head should fare better with the visor back on, while Vainglory ought to be a different proposition with his return under his belt.

Thunderball is infuriatingly difficult to catch right whilst Aubrietia will be keen to put a recent disappointment behind her when last of eight in Listed grade in Sweden. She'll be a prime contender if over that Scandinavian adventure but INTRANSIGENT makes greater appeal. Progressive last term, Andrew Balding's charge has run better than form figures indicate this term and can adopt a prominent position from the four stall. Yair Hill, returned to sprinting, and the consistent Summerinthecity, are also respected.

He runs off an unchanged mark and is somewhat reluctantly passed over in favour of MYSTERIOUS MAN, progressive last season until below par in Group company in France. Only just inched out by Sun Central on reappearance, he has no stamina issues and can oblige. Gabrial's King and Hallstatt are next best.

Klynch is a dangerous customer once on a roll and Ruth Carr's excellent servant should be involved once again. Grey Mirage is interesting returned to turf, while trailblazer Dr Red Eye is hard to ignore. However, top weight CHOSEN CHARACTER makes plenty of appeal following his narrow defeat to Captain Bertie at the last meeting as he doesn't face anything of that calibre this time.

Martial Art has been given a good rest by Andrew Balding since failing to open his account on the all-weather last winter when strongly supported on three occasions. He looked far from resilient when a beaten short-priced favourite the last twice, looking one to have reservations about. He could still be the answer here if successfully sweetened up since but preference is for Irish raider BETHANY BAY, not disgraced in useful company this term. Greek Spirit rates a potential improver.
