Powderonthebonnet was only a length off subsequent hurdles winner Mr Satco on his latest start in a Kelso bumper 179 days ago and warrants plenty of respect on his first start over the sticks, but DREAM DEAL shades the verdict. He was by no means disgraced when sixth in what looked a much stronger novices' hurdle than this at Exeter last month and there should be plenty more to come from the lightly-raced five-year-old. Buywise travelled well when coming down three out in a Kelso hunters' chase in April and he cannot be ruled out on his hurdling debut.
Dream Deal very much caught the eye on his hurdling bow and can find the required improvement to take this. Powderonthebonnet and Reverb are others to consider.
He has won a hurdle race and two chases from 2m to 2m 4f on ground varying from good to firm to soft. A winner at 3-1 in a chase at Southwell over 2m 4f (soft) on his latest outing earlier this month, beating Jim Job Jones by 1 1/2l. Carries a 7lb penalty today for that success. It is difficult to put anything forward with a lot of confidence, but UMBERTO D'OLIVATE could prove up to the task on his first chase start in the UK. He finished third on his sole start in this sphere in France and may well improve for a spin over hurdles at Wincanton (fourth) last month. It is interesting that McCoy has been booked to partner handicap debutant Another Kate and she is more than capable if putting her best foot forward, while Overnight Fame has gone well fresh in the past and is hard to dismiss.
Umberto d'Olivate has shaped well on a few occasions since joining this yard and might be worth siding with on his first chase start in Britain.
