MERRION SQUARE could provide Paul Nicholls with his fourth win in this race from the last five runnings. He was purchased by these powerful connections after winning a point-to-point at Lemonfield in March and is sure know his job on his debut under NH rules. Nutin Fancy was bought for 50,000 pounds out of Gordon Elliott's stable after winning a bumper at Downpatrick in March and he warrants respect now sent hurdling, while Ohio Gold's is reported to be bigger and stronger this year.
Paul Nicholls took this race last year and he looks to have strong claims with Irish point winner Merrion Square. Ohio Gold and Nutin Fancy look the obvious dangers.

Lamps was twice placed in bottomless ground earlier this year and must come into the reckoning on his return, but SOLLIM looks the one to beat. This French bred gelding should have no problems going through the testing ground and the form of his third at Hereford in January looks rock solid (many in that contest have won since including the first, second and fourth). Russe Blanc and Bathwick Brave, both smart bumper performers, are respected as they tackle hurdles for the first time.
Sollim will get quite a bit further than this in time, but this looks a good opening even so on reappearance. Lamps is the clear second pick on hurdles form, though Thecircleoftrust is interesting on his earlier bumper exploits.

GRADUATION NIGHT immediately showed that he is going to be a lot better in this sphere than over hurdles when bolting up on his chasing debut over an extended 3m1f at Wincanton ten days ago and, despite having to shoulder a 7lb penalty today, he can follow up. Gunner Rose was unlucky to bump into the well handicapped Wide Receiver (who has won again since) at Wetherby last time and he can mount a bold bid here, while Billy Murphy is no forlorn hope off bottom weight.
Graduation Night had little to beat at Wincanton on his chase bow, but jumped with alacrity, and looks capable of shrugging off a 7 lb penalty. Gunner Rose had an impossible task at Wetherby last time, and will find this much easier.

Although his three hurdle wins this year have come on much better ground, he does have form on soft and connections presumably think he's well treated over larger obstacles by throwing him straight into a handicap. It could pay to side with SNOW PATROL at the foot of the weights in what looks a tricky end to proceedings. The ten-year-old was running well in similar testing conditions earlier this year and returning to the scene of his sole career win today can only help. Tallulah Mai has reached the frame in each of her three starts over hurdles so far and should give another good account if handling this ground, while Hector's House and Man Of Leisure make up the shortlist.
Tallulah Mai faded only late when a creditable third on her handicap bow, and ought to be able to build on that here. If so, she'll take plenty of beating, with Hector's House and Gross Prophet taken to fill the places.
